Diablo 3 Beta: Current Known Issues - UPDATED 9/8/11

Hey all. I didn't see a post about this and thought it could be an interesting read to see what's changing (for better or worse) ? :)

Maybe it can be edited / stickied with the newest info as it arises as well?...

Could add in bugs from beta players who read this and may have a found bug as well?

    "General
Players cannot log into the Public Beta if they have UAC enabled on Windows 7. The current work around is to fully disable UAC (User Account Control) while playing Diablo III."

I thought disabling UAC was standard practice for Win 7 users that have any idea of what they're doing.

    The more you know.

How exactly is the banner teleporting system used? Do you click on the players banner in a chat room or something?

When a player joins a game it creates a banner for everyone in town to see. If they are anywhere in that act (assumption?) you can click on their banner and teleport to them directly.

Banners are near the New Tristram Waypoint by the way.

Edit: Appears your banner is shown also. You just can't click on it :)

Wow sounds like the really should beta test this whole game and not just the first 1/3 of act 1 (hint hint) ...

Agreed. I guess the game will be bug-ridden at release and we'll get (bi)weekly patches in the first 2 months.

ya quite strange they have this many bugs considering this isnt even a real beta test - meaning; its just supposed to test stability and compatibility issues.

Well it could be that some of these are long existing bugs that they haven't got around to fixing. I assume the rest of the game is being playtested internally.

    Wishful thinking maybe.

I'm not worried in the least. A beta without bugs is one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Even though it is only a single sentence it implicitly tells us some things:
    - These issues were already known through internal testing and have since been fixed.
    - The beta version we have is in a way out of date already.
    - 'Fixed for launch'. It somehow gives me the feeling it's less far from finished than we think.

I am also wondering what their hotfixing capabilities are with Diablo III. If a skill turned out to be very overpowered shouldn't they, especially since there is no single player capability to begin with - be able to retune it quite quickly?

They'll be able to do it as frequent as they want. Much like WoW.

Since the client (more or less) tells the server "I just activated skill X", it's the server that does all the calculation of how skill X works, so in terms of balancing, a server update is all that's required.

"Skeletal Archers deal much more damage than other equivilant Skeleton-type monsters"

that is bull****, archers will always do more DPS then the regular slow skeletons.

In Diablo 2 burning undead archer had the highest DPS of all normal mobs
