Diablo 2 community is so nice

This is probably my noobishness showing, but so far, the community of Diablo 2 online is very generous and helpful. About 5 minutes ago, some guy was trading a set item (Sigon, I think) for emeralds, of which I had none, because I'd just started a new character. When I told him, he just gave it to me as a gift. This is part of a pattern I've had over the last few weeks; people just giving me tons of gems, or jumping into my leveling game to help rush me through. In turn, I've been passing on their good deeds to other poor noobs.

Before I started playing online, I'd heard lots of horror stories of hacks and cheats and PKers, but I haven't noticed any of that yet. I've not yet had a single person hostile me or act stupid. I think this may be due to D2 being an older game that has settled into a group of those who just want to play and progress along with others, rather than a bunch of kids who want to screw others and beat the system. I understand there still is that, but I'm still impressed with D2's great community.

I recently started playing as well and i also noticed now nice these forums have been for me so far. even though i might not have a lot of rich or godly stuff someone in the trade forums was nice enough to trade goreriders for some pgems! but i still kinda wished i had more to offer ...maybe if mfing goes well for me i'll return to favor to someone else in need of items.

Even though I haven't been around much, from posts that I read. People here stand out from the crowd and keep this game alive. Although, I still don't know what is "closed" b.net. Hehe

Closed bnet = playing on the realms such as us east or west.

srry to break it to u newcomers here but bnet isnt that nice when u get to higher lvls. items like sigons and gores are really easy to get and are not worth that much so ppl generally give out those for free and for gems.
when u get to high lvl runes/runewords and uniques, you will encounter ppl trying to scam u and more hacks as well.

just a heads up. dont trust everyone online

yep, bnet isn't nice at all when you reach nightmare and hell.. in free games you see people spam "FREE FOR ME". people act like @sses. But beware of possible scams later on when you reach later levels. NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER trust ANYONE on bnet unless they're some respected member here in these forums or you know them in real life. They WILL scam you in every possible way they can.

Unfortunately, they're still there (quite often). If you do trade on bnet...don't ever drop trade, never "check" trade box until you SEE what you're trading for...hmm..there must be more. Anyway, hope you won't encounter those...(sigh..you will though..)
