    deeper combat system understanding

I'm looking to better understand the combat system. While I'm now familiar with the stats of my player, I'd like to understand serioulsy how they interact. For instance, how much damage will I get when I'm hit by a mosnter, depending on his attack level, my defense, dexterity etc.
    Any links or formula welcome.

    thanks a lot.

If you're for some heavy reading this is the place for you.

I'll address some of your question shortly here. The damage you take doesn't depend on your defense rating or dexterity. Those affect only the chance of getting hit in the first place. If you're wielding a shield dexterity improves your chance to block the attack. Each monster has some damage amount it deals, just like you do. Once you get hit the actual damage you take is affected with modifiers your equipment might have. Shaftstop armour for example will reduce physical damage by 30%, some item might reduce damage by 5 points for example. That's just a scratch on the top, the link I had in the beginning will have a lot of formulas about this and other things as well.
