Death

Death

My assassin died today. She was only level 15 but I was heartbroken at the way she died. I wanted her death to be comical. Maybe if she was swarmed by a gazillion carvers or completly raped by diablo or something. Then atleast I could laugh at my feeble attempts at escape.

Instead I was blind sided by a random PKer. He joined my team. Stood just inside town, engaged me in conversation then instantly left and charged me to death. I totally underestimated his high damage. He was only a 26 so I figured I could get away if he decided to do anything funny. I was only a step or two from town myself.

It happened so fast. I ended up rejoining the game and asking him why. He just said he wanted to kill me and he wanted my ear. He seemed nice and apologized for the PK.

Dont feel bad - I died tonight at levle 64 with my newest Hammerdin . NM FE Lister got me once again . I was just about to tp out cause my merc was somehow taken out and boom it got me . Good thing was I was only wearing some ghetto Low Rune Word gear and hadnt switch into my leet Hell mode gear .. And so goes the life of a HC D2 player ..

Good luck on your rebuild. . .

For future reference, the level difference would have to be much more in your favor to ever be relatively safe. A budget level 12 could easily take out anything up to about level 30, and a well-built level 12 could take on normal Baal runners. On the other end of things, a well-built high-40s to mid-50s could take out just about anything thrown at it. So unless you have a twinked-out character and a significant level advantage, don't get too complacent.

Yeah, keep crapping. Happened to me once, but only once. Town pk'd = I stood inside town and chanted folks, one person hostiled the party, his/her accomplice IN party cast clay golems or something in front of me for the other's merc to shoot arrows at me -- dead in 2 shots, couldn't figure out what was happening.

Only level 75, but yeah, the irony's just awesome.

All in all though so far I like HC. Its fun only having one life. You def. make your characters better and the game is more realistic.

Many people had tried to pk my chanter, thats why i always chant my bow fire merc first . she uses 3x 15 ias helm 4x15 ias armor and an uped kuko ~ 6k damage for my merc, I never chant bow mercenaries from other players except in town near stash. thats a safe way not to get pkd . And if you get hostiled you just tele arround and ur merc does the job.

I decided to remake as a barbarian. Even though others have discouraged me from doing that I decided to do it anyways since barbarians are my favorite character. Plus, they are fun/cool to play (atleast I think so) and even though they lack summons or ranged attacks they are considerably hardier then other characters as long as I'm careful.

I was thinking this type of build...
100-150 in Strength
200+ Dexterity
All Vitality
None Energy

I def. want max block in hardcore. Even with life leech, high defense and PDR I want ALL my bases covered in hardcore.

For skills..

20-Axe mastery (they require low dex/strength and are cool)
1- Increased stamina
5- Increased speed (running in town mostly)
1- Iron skin
5- Natural resistance
1- Howl
20- Shout (want a high defense)
20- Battle orders
1- Battle command

As far as combat I'm at a loss. I wanted to go with frenzy originally but decided against it since I couldn't use a shield. My next thought was concentrate since it will do the most damage, is un-interruptible and gives me insane defense. Then I wanted to do whirlwind since its probably the best all around attack (combines great defense with offense).

I was also thinking about maxing bash since it'd be fun.

Any suggestions? I'm kinda leaning to a BVB tuner barb using WW. That barb would be fun and could handle itself very well in MVP.

making a barbarian is definitely viable, how good it will be largely depends on how much you can twink him though. if its not going to be twinked, then you can still get decent items for pgs.

As far as stats go, id get less in dex(with heavy twinking you could get by with base str and 50-100 dex). if you arent twinking however, youll be able to get whitstans shield along the way (for a couple of pgs) which still requires a lot less dex (around 130ish if i remember right, but check it out yourself, the block and dex formula is out there).

a good weapon for an untwinked barb would be razors edge, also easily attainable for a couple of pgs. reaches the last ww breakpoint, decent dmg.

and yes as a skill id choose whirlwind. good offensive power and still able to use a shield. dont max bash though, only put 1 point in it. youll regret it if you put more than 1 point in it. also put 1 point into berserk for taking out physical immunes.
