Death of a forum member

It is with great sadness that I have the announce the passing of one of your forum members and a good friend of mine.

In the night following the 14th of Oktober this person, known to you as Ryondaahl, but known in the real world as Thyl Luycks, unexpectedly died.

Our thoughts are with him.

For those people who would like more detailed information, you can E-mail me (Roderick van Noorloos) on [email protected]

Predominately found in the SPF. Can a mod move this thread there perhaps?

He posted a week ago in another SP Forum, might be worth PMing someone who uses it and telling them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you telling us this is some sort of sick joke?

(it would explain the fishy first post and the 1 post OP)

If this is for real, Ryondaahl's last post was 17th of April, that's half a year ago? Hence why I didn't recognize the name.

Another SP Forum, not dii.net, I just checked and his last post was actually the 13th October.

Ryondaahl was one of the d2 "legends". He was the first to complete a lvl 99 septvariate in 1.09. quite an amazing feat. Unfortunately I didn't know him at all and so I can't say anything useful. He'll be missed in the d2 world, though I'm certain he'll be missed more in RL.:sad2:

My thoughts exactly except that I have played in some of his and D2addicts v1.09 games. Wow, this came as a shock.

I'm quite shocked, don't know really what to say. Didn't know him too well, but read a lot of posts from him.

I already heard this very bad news. I'm shocked, his death makes me really sad. I didn't know him in person, but I played 1.09 with him quite some times and it was always much fun because he's such a nice guy. He planned to come back after a some months long pause and he even wanted to finally play 1.11. I was so looking forward to this, but now...

I feel really sad. He was too young to die, his family and friends must feel terrible as hell. Best wishes to them.

I've done a number of 1.09 cow runs with Ryondaahl over the last year or two. He was a great guy and I'll miss him. RIP mate.

Although I didn't have a chance to know him, even most of his D2 life, the name indeed sounds familiar. Such a young and lively person passing away, bringing grief to the unfortunate who still live and miss him.

May he rest in peace...

I am so sorry to hear our friend Ryon has passed on. As others mentioned we had a lot of MP games together in 1.09. I had a lot of fun hosting for Icebird and Ryondaahl (and all the others) as they raced for their 7/99 quest. I believe Icebird actually finished first by the slightest bit but that certainly does not take away from how amazing and difficult 7/99 is. Ryon actually mentioned he might join one of the games on October 13. We were all hoping he would have made it for another round of MP games. I knew him fairly well through all the games and the talks before or afterwards. The next round of MP games is for you my friend.

I thought I would host a memorial cow run in 1.09B for anyone interested in joining. I was thinking Friday night at 7pm or 8pm EST (GMT -5) for roughly a few hours. If you are interested let me know by PM or email. [email protected]
