Dear President Obama

Dear President Obama

In a truly historic moment, Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States yesterday.

What should be the Obama administration's top priorities in its first 100 days?

Write him a letter and tell us about it.

Historic? Rather strong adjective I would say...

"Dear Mr. American president,
I know there is not much you can do but please insist on building the intended radar in my country. An american military installation build by a black president in former russian satelite - them Russinas are gonna hate it!
Thank you"

If you could use some waterwalk boots or Ik helm...

Strong adjective? Ignorance is no excuse. The mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Go learn some US history before you bark-out more stupidity, fella.

Who has seen that Obama-themed Southpark episode?
Hillarious :)
This one particular guy is to change nothing at all, hes just black and his predecessor didnt impress much. And by mere chance he has taken up his office amidst economic crisis. Not that I am opposed to him I just think there is too much hype about him.

Btw I watched some speech of his on BBC today - this man has voice so strong, r-y-s-t-e-k-p-a!

Perhaps it was in the sense that if it had been John McCain, we would neither be televising it to schoolkids nor easily swallowing the price tag (triple what the screamingly-denounced Bush inauguration was). Plus we'd be hearing round-the-clock jokes about muffing your swearing in. In other words, nothing historic at all other than the skin color, which is supposedly no longer an issue. Who knows.

To my Commander-in-Chief:

I have been greatly relieved that you seem to be much more of a realist than your personal history would imply and than you had inferred during the election cycle. I pray that this is not illusory or fleeting.

I would ask you to hold firm to this realism against the Progressive dominance in both the House and Senate. I suspect you are quite aware of your predecessor taking the blame for their problems, since over half of the voters who supported you believed that the Republicans controlled the two houses.

You have quietly slid away from comparisons with FDR in favor of comparisons to Lincoln. I beg you to take this to heart - better that you fall short in comparison to one of the most famous Republican presidents ever, than to emulate the disastrous economic policies that gave rise to an invasive Federal Government and what your supporters deride as the "military-industrial complex".

Your servant, jmervyn.

Mr. President:

Please don't think we can just spend, spend, spend our way out of the economic "crisis". Adding a trillion dollars of debt is not the way to go. Do not raise the deficit.

Do not nationalize health care.

Do not nationalize the banking system.

Do cut spending.

Do balance the budget.

Do encourage less oil, more natural gas, wind, solar.

Do more to make the federal government smaller.

Peace out.

Re: Dear President Obama

All that huge crowd of people, enormous hopes, pledges given, promises made, mobilizing everyone in the society for a common thing, creating a populist movement out of economic crisis, youth brigades, everyone united in one body, narrowed leadership, controlled media speak one language, let’s all stand behind the leader, how dare you don’t stand behind our politics ….

I’ve seen these things around the world and read in history how these things end.

I hope that it will not end as it usually does. I wish to Americans all the best with their new President.

Anyone else pick up on this? 43, actually. Cleveland had 2 presidencies.

Priority should be economy. Good luck with that, America.

Re: Dear President Obama

Dear Mr. President,

Congratulations (even though you had a 100% chance of winning; there will likely not be a republican president for another 6 terms or so).

I have two questions for you. First, you indicated full support of 'the American lifestyle' and you declair you will not back down. You DO realize this lifestyle will eventually spell the end of your country, right? I'm sure you know the history, but Rome had half of its population composed of slaves to support the citizens' lush lifestyles. Rome also had to plunder other lands to keep the luxury pouring in. Now, although labourers who make minimum wage are not really slaves, take my word for it: they are pretty angry and often feel like slaves.

Secondly, do you actually plan to do anything about black gangs, gun violence, poverty in black comunities, racial gaps, etc? It would kind of be nice since so many African Americans look up to you.

I like, you, really. But I find your total support of the luxurious American lifestyle a little scarry.

Dear Mr. President:

If you could just disassemble those railcars and those special detention centers and give Halliburton the shaft, that would be swell.

I just hope he achieves mediocrity. That'd be a step up for the last 16 years or so in my mind.

Well, Roberts made the errors. But you're right. I think Bush could mangle just about anything with or without help and still take the blame.

Do you know how I know you're a dumbass? Two l's in Halliburton.

Besides, until recently, they paid pretty good dividends.

Well, it's not like there aren't entities which have the other version of the name. There was no need for that either.

Halliburton screwed up my last open-hole logging job with a borehole compensated sonic tool that failed ... followed by a sidewall coring tool that wouldn't work. After tripping in and out of the hole numerous times to check the tools; hot-shotting a second coring tool that failed; wasting 18 hours of rig time (@ a rig cost of $20,000/day) and recovering only four lousy 1.5" sidewall cores, I told the Halliburton representative that the next time I needed a good logging firm, I would call Schlumberger and sent him packing.

I don't even want to talk about Geographix, a geologic software mapping program owned by Halliburton, announcing today that they are raising their annual rates for help and updates. :steam:

Re: Dear President Obama

Why question the use of the word "historic"? All presidencies are historic.

I'll keep my letter short:

Dear President Obama,

Don't screw it up. Don't give in to special interests. You are in no one's pocket, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If you can make my life and this country better, you might even get my vote 4 years down the road.

Sincerely,
AJ

Except, like, the corporation itself. Now you know. Consider it a free lesson from me since opening a browser window and typing a few characters was too difficult for you.

Hell, you bothered to respond. That energy could have been well-spent learning the name of one of the Fortune 500 companies.

Weird, I invested in them because of their ability to supply oilfield technology to the Middle East of Asia, not Oklahoma and not your personal stories. Besides, the oil's easier to find over there. Well, it was.

PS- I think Geographix has stunk since forever.
