dear god, the spambots...
[moan]So, after a 1 year break from the game (more or less), I decided to play a little D2 again. Nothing serious, just for fun.
Now, we all know that spambots are bad on public games. In 1.10 there were a couple, 1.11 had its share, and 1.12 was downright borderline *****fit (is this allowed to be said?).
Now, I havent had much 1.13 experience ever since I quit due to the horrible disappointment of the patch upgrade... but I know that after every ladder reset, a new spambot is introduced with a new site. From what I counted there are around 7 to 8 sites using spambots.
Now... I can deal with spambots. I honestly can. If they just have 2 lines that say "Hey, check out our site! Its at [site]!" or something, I could cope. But now, I get bots that join, usually in pairs at that, that say
(bot joins)
Hey! our site has the latest crap!
Join us now!
We hav shakos!
torches!
perfect andy's!
All yours for a meager fee!
And what to think of lv99 characters?
IT COULD ALL BE YOURS
FOR A MEAGER 5.99!
Join [site] now!
(bot leaves)
Okay, its not literally taken, in fact, the text is usually even LONGER. Earlier today I joined a game, where in 3 minutes after joining, I had my screen filled with pure spam five times, and I lost track of the amount of bots that joined in.
So my request to ALL diablo 2 players:
Please use the "level difference" box when creating a public game. I'm not sure how big the difference you can set it, but it would honestly save myself and I figure a LOT of others a whole load of stress and annoyance. In fact, hadn't I remembered using that box before, the bots alone would be reason enough for me to never touch D2 again.
