    Darksight helm

I found the unique basinet on one of my pit runs. It has a fire resist of 32%, is this helmet useful for any character or should I just leave it in an ATMA stash as a novelty?

Grailer! (and that's about it ...)

    Darksight Helm
    Basinet
    75-84 +2*Clvl Defense
    30 Durability
    82 Str Required
    Item Level: 46
Clvl req: 38 -4 Light Radius
    +2 Defense per clvl
    Cannot be Frozen
    +5% Mana Stolen Per Hit
6% Chance of casting slvl 3 Dim Vision When Struck
Level 5 Cloak of Shadows (30 Charges)
    +20-40% to Fire Resist

Well, it's got CBF and some mana leech ... big fire resist ... uhhhhhh ... Grailer.

I was thinking about the CoS charges and how it might make some builds viable or flesh out their capabilities ... but I didn't mention it.

I didn't see your thread previously neither. Nice accomplishment and thinking around an easily forgotten item.

Untwinked, it will make the char much more viable. CBF, mana steal and CoS charges. I remember running NM Meph for this item for weeks.

    Twinked. It is still useful.

It made my pit runs for my hammerdin much safer from cursed archers. CoS is without a doubt the most uber crowd control skill, with Dim Vision a close second.

Useful for untwinked, otherwise if you got 5 CoA piling up to be used, no.

Helped my untwinked zealot from nm meph till guardianship.

I still think that lvl 5 CoS charges is about as useful as it sounds - not very in other words. I reckon you could have done your enchantress without it.
Anyway, for almost all builds its totally useless IMO, unless its your only source of CBF when you really need it, but unless your untwinked, i doubt that.

The CTC Dim Vision is also nice for some builds. A Strafe or Multishot 'zon could benefit from the crowd control this offers, and it might even work okay on a rogue merc (for that one person still not using an Act2 aura merc).

Bob, if you read the thread about my guardian you'd have seen that I've tried it both with and without the helm. It's not a question of whether or not it is doable without it. You can make do without basically anything. Fact is that if on a difficulty scale from 1 to 10 the enchantress went down from about 8 to a comfortable 3 or so with the helm.

Bob must not play many assassins.

Any 'challenging' character can make use of this helm. Even at slvl 1, CoS is one of the assassins most, if not the most, useful skills.
