Tyrael destroyed the worldstone, which plunged Sanctuary into uncertain chaos and dissolved the line seperating the mortal world from the planes of heaven & hell.. so in theory it could simply be that the minions of Hell are pouring in at an alarming rate, perhaps the enemies of the Three Prime Evils are now leading them in hopes of taking full dominion over the world.

Meanwhile, heaven, now not confined away from the plane of mortal men, is sending down soldiers to combat the evil, which is much stronger now that there isn't any real "seperation" between the planes.

This, in turn, would offer more of an RPG feel to the game, in that you can choose to either A) join the legions of Hell, B) join the army of light or C) just hack and slash your way to glory alone, killing anyone and anything that gets in your way.

At least, that's how I see it.

What you're talking about would make sense as a MMORPG..."World of Diablo", or maybe "World of Sanctuary".

Diablo 3 would make Blizzard a boat load of money. They will make it, and if we are lucky it wont suck.

Your reasons really don't have anything to do with Diablo at all, and stories are easily written.

We could get the same thing that happened to civilization. The official Blizzard Diablo3 and the ex-Blizzard runaway version. Then it takes years to settle this and finally there's Diablo4. It will all suck compared to diablo2 ofcourse.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure there will be Diablo3 and a lot of clones, because it's a very easy way to make a lot of money.

Exactly. Money is what it comes down to. As far as a story line keeping Blizz (or anyone) from making D3... that's about as silly as saying they won't make another Friday the 13th movie due to the main character (Jason) getting killed in a previous movie.

The only possible thing to come from all this talk would be that the former blizz employees sit down and create a Diablo Clone, of course they would have to make it so that Blizzard could not sue them for infringment rights on one of their titles = But close enough that people would not the difference. Could this happen - yes, will it happen - I seriously dont see it happening in a possible future then again i could be wrong.

Do we really want a D3, are we really ready for more of this story. If so what would be the story line. How much more can they do in the story.
