D2CLASSIC: Good build idea or not?

I am about to start a new necro and I was wondering if I have a good idea here or if it wont be viable. First off, this is for classic (hence the title) so please don't tell me to use runes, or mercs, or such. Anywho... I was thinking about using 20 in both bone spirit and bone spear, 20 in attract as my main curse and 10 or so in Corpse explosion. I sopose my main question here is will Attract work well as a crowd control spell? I haven't used it yet but it looks promising on paper. This will be for single player v1.10 and untwinked. What do you all think? I'm fishing for suggestions here so lay em on me.
Also, I have noticed some number of people talking about going back to classic. I think this is great and we should all have more classic discussions on the board. I wish we could get a classic section on the forum, single players have thier own section why not classic? Anyways, if we can't get that perhaps just heading the title like I did will sufice.
Waiting to hear your thoughts,
-JiM

the AI curses work well once you've figured them out (to use them well you gotta practice a little). My favorite combo right now is Confuse (closes the gaps of the group of beasts and brings in more from off screen) , Iron Maiden, attract (on one in the middle of the IM'd), and then Corpse Explosion. Works quite nice through Norm and Nightmare (IM wont be so effective in Hell). Though I thinking of adding Poison nova to my Mojo/Arty for Hell. A deadly 5 spell combo.

I made a build quite similar in the original Ladder. He's now dead (HC) but, the point is the build is decently promising. What I did differently, was I put about 10 on Confuse and 20 on IM. Then I maxed BONE SPIRIT only and put 10/10 on Bonewall/Prison for good distractions and Bone Armour Synergy. Finnaly, I put 7 points in CE. It worked quite well, and he stayed alive for a good amout of time. (also one point Clay Golem)

As for equipment, I aimed for resists, life and a touch of FHR.
Items:
Weapon: Shard
Shield: 47% Ward
Iratha's Full Set
Boots: 30% Fw/r boots w/resists
Ring: Resists
Ring: Resists
Armour: Blinks Form.
(note the 60% FR/W for escaping ect.)
(note no + to skills)

I ended up with 85% all resists.
Stats were as follow:
Str: 45
Dex: Req for Shard
Vit: The Rest
NRG: None.

It was certainly a fun class. And by it, I can see that yours could be Viable too... I used my char as a reference just for some similarities. Feel free to have the build.

Cool, I like the whole curse combo thing, I think I might have to play with all these skills and practice a bit with an editor before I start a real build. Sounds promising though.

My current level 55 HC mojo is (perhaps not exact but close to this, didn't stip him the points don't quite make it, most likely confuse and CE has a few more and I think I got a few points in Dim as well) like this:

*=skill to be maxed (#) the level I will build it too and stop adding points
(WC)= what I can for synergies

All Prereqs 1 (and unmentioned curses)
Attract 5 (10)
Confuse 10*
IM 5-8*
CE 10*

CG 10 (maxed)
GM 1
SR 1

Bone Wall 10 (perhaps maxed well see)
Poison Nova 0 (11)
Poison Dagger 0 (WC)
Poison Exposion 0 (WC)

Though if I had to do it again I wouldn't put more than 1 in Dim, and I'd consider going for some revives with points towards it instead of relying upon my wand for them (magic wand +3 revives, +1 curses, +1 bonearmor 2 sockets). I will probably try to get poison nova to 10+ before heading to hell too (I'll probably twink him (when he gets to hell) out with some trangs gloves etc so I'm going poison rather than bone)

It's a good idea to go with resists with the Iratha Set and others, (I still need 2 pieces to complete my set) but other than that wand and two manolds my mojo/arty is untwinked everything else he has bought, found of crafted with that which he has found. But resists are your most important defensive factor once you get your bone armor synergised a little (level 12-17 I pumped BW nearly exclusively, knowing that I wanted to pump confuse as quick as possible).

As for other gear the world is wide open + skills is nice but really necessary once your main curses are at 15+ (confuse will take most the screen at this point) you should be alright even without +skills, I'd focus mostly on resists, mana, mana recovery (+mana per kill very nice), and Hit points. +running speed is nice but even just +20 will suffice most the time.

As for stats I went 3 str 2 vit till str was 60 and then started going 2 vit 3 energy (it's a preaty heavy mana build, but you'll need it) once my energy gets to 100 or so I'll go all vit and supliment str as needed for gear options.

My merc is the act 5 merc, his weapon is an upped Shadow Fang. Nice sword with cold damage and leech life that with decrept, and the slow of CG can bind Baal to the point where his attacks seldom actually proc., Diablio and Durry are easily taken out with the CG and IM (the higher of both these spells the less drinking and casting you gota do (just make sure you got fire resists up for D).
