D2 Outpost Ironman

This is for USWest players.​

The Diablo II Outpost (op d2outpost) will be holding an ironman tournament on Saturday, July 31st, at 7:00 PM Pacific Time (PST).This tournament will have set rules and is meant as an opportunity to meet fellow players, make new friends, and have fun. There will also be prizes (small and maybe a few large), but that should not be the motivation for coming out :)

What is an ironman? An ironman is a game in which everyone starts with a fresh character at level 1, and plays untwinked until they reach level 9. At level 9 they go to town and wait for all other players to reach the same level. While in town, they can shop at the vendors for whatever they want, equipment, mana potions, gambling goods. Players are not to leave town after that until their match.

The matches will be ladder style (example below):

Here are the rules for the tourny:
  1. No life regen of any kind (this means NO healing pots, prayer, or life replenish items, however life leech from a weapon is acceptable.)
  2. Poison damage is NOT allowed; for example summon druids only have to run around while their poison creeper kills their opponents.
  3. Mana potions, thawing potions, antidote potions, and stamina potions ARE allowed.
  4. NO well or shrine use is allowed. If you hit lvl 9 and still have a shrine bonus on, you must wait until that shrine wears off before matching anyone.
  5. If you leave the game (ie: fluxing), you have exactly 120 seconds to re-enter the game before you are disqualified. Remember twinking is NOT allowed in ironmans - so don't abuse others' trust in you.
  6. If you for some reason die before level 9 (to monsters), you are out of the tournament (so don't die!).
  7. Once you hit level 9, you MUST go to town and stay there until all other players have reached level 9.
  8. Players will be told to put a certain tag on their character name to ensure no prior tweaking occurs.

Depending on interest, we may have more than one game going at a once. If you are interested in participating please leave your account name in this thread so I can do match-ups and message people online if I need to remind them. Also, if the time doesn't work out for many people, rescheduling will be in order.

If you sign up and can't make it for any odd reason, PLEASE tell me in this thread or via PM ahead of time.

Hmm sounds like fun. 7 pacific is what?? 5 central? or am i mistaken. If i am not mistaken, i dunno if i can make it. And i wont be able to tell you if i can make untill about 3 or 4 days prior too. Would this be a problem? As i dont know my plans for that day yet.

7 PM PST is 10 PM EST... and I think it's 8 central, not sure. And it's fine telling me 3 or 4 days prior, no problem.

And btw kaos, pacific time is 3 hours behind east so that would make it 2 hours behind central so 9:00p.m. Hmm thats 10 p.m. for me hope I haven't been drinking too much by then :drink:

Well, that should work for me, but im not gana give a definate answer untill i know a little more of what my plans are. But if i have nothing going you can definatly count me in.

I will not be playing, but I have a question. Will people be alowed to go to town before they're level nine? Because I usualy don't alow that when I play Iron mans, but some people do. I just thhought that that should be cleared up. I think some one should write up the offical HC Forum Iron Man Rules some day! Maybe I will if I get bored tomorow or something. :lol:

There's too many deviations to the Ironman that it's impossible to make a guide. I prefer the Ironhunt myself, but I'm too lazy to explain the one I prefer.

Yes, but everytime someone creates an Iron Man on the forums, it's usualyl folowing the same rules. I think that someone should write out the rules, then people can post variations on the same thread, camments and question... etc. I'll do it tomorow. I don't want to deal with the tediousness (word?) of typing out a bunch of ruless.

Rule #9: Players may not go to town for any reason until they hit level 9.
