D2 in Windowed mode without minimizing by misstake

Hey! Ever died from a minimizing window? Tired of clicking you taskbar to get it back up? Then I've got a piece of info for you! :wink3:

    When playing in window mode:
    1. Minimize d2 (just click outside the window)
    2. Press up the task manager (ctrl+alt+del)
    3. Rightclick on you d2 program (not the process)
    4. Click maximize in the popup-menu
    5. Now d2 will probably be displayed behind your task manager
    6. Close down the task manager (d2 minimizes in the bakground)
    7. Click on d2 in the taskbar

And there you have it: mouse cannot leave d2 window other then upwards, if you place the d2 window in the upper corner of your screen you should fair little too no chance of minimizing d2 without your intention.

Just because it works on my comp doesn't make sure it works on all, try it out and tell me the resoults.

I'll try it myself after lunch.

EDIT: It works! A little caution is necessary as it's relatively easy to lose track of your mouse pointer - it becomes invisible if you move it outside the game window (the mouse is not trapped inside the frame sadly).

Also, although the game is "maximized", keep in mind that it doesn't stretch to fit - it's still 800x600 and will still look quite small if your monitor is set to a high resolution (I use 1280x1024 on this computer).

It worked on me, but it more or less lost the meaning for windows mode, imo :azn:

Some of us have had to use windowed mode because LOD in fullscreen mode has this habit of taking over your screen and not giving it back when it's done.

    Not possible. Diablo 2 video drivers aren't written that badly. {/sarcasm and I-told-you-so mentality}

    Nice. it works.

Even if it loses a bit of meaning of a windowed mode.
but using 'Alt-Tab' to switch programs is a lot faster
and easier than to switch from full-screen to back to
    your desktop or other programs.

I thought that I was alone with this problem... I've found that clicking blindly on my quick launch bar, and hitting iTunes usually brings the screen back.

    Hmm handy info, ta.

I only ever started getting problems with minimizing after I installed a mod though.

Gar! Thread necromancy. Foul demons, beware!
    But seriously...necessary?

P.S: Window's-key + D should bring down all programs and show the desktop...right?

Yeah, same function as the "Show Desktop" button on the quick launch bar.

I always forget about that... it's so useful, and yet I never use it...

I swear, sometimes I wonder...a lot of times, actually...
Indeed, it has the same function...but you don't have to see the Desktop to do it...or the quick launch bar...

    Sometimes...

Fine, you don't need to take my words if you don't like it.
    Do it whatever you want.

It would be far more useful for e.g. keeping a record of stuff on mules if it won't minimize when you click on something else. If you have two computers and just one monitor, you can run the game on the computer which is not connected to the monitor and the text editor or whatever on the other, displaying the d2 window/screen via VNC. It's not performant enough to play the game, of course, but it's good enough for muling.
