but just becuase you can find a rare with alot of good mods, the mods a unique item deserve to be better.
Uh, based on what? The so called item-chain?

Also, to the people talking about the rushing and such...it wouldn't matter if you could get rushed or not if you couldn't level at all by leeching xp in higher level zones. I never really minded the rushing, though. D2 is a fast paced hack and slash game, and I played it mostly for the pvp. If they add a million repetitive quests and other BS that you have to do to level, I probably won't enjoy it. I donno if you guys have ever played WoW, but leveling there (especially after your first time) is mind numbing. I'd honestly rather get called to jury duty than level a character on WoW. It's soooo bad. The word 'quest' will forever give me chills.

WoW leveling is a joke nowadays. It used to be fun before the expansions when it actually was harder to get levels. But yeah quests are quite boring but if you did the levels by grinding monsters only.. it would be even more boring in WoW world.. in Diablo it works .)

But hey, they said we will have main quests, side quests and then random quests that are different in every game. This will make the progressing in the game more interesting.

I've always said that you shouldn't maybe try to make huge barriers against rushing, but against leeching exp. Why would anyone need to get rushed if they can't do anything in the high areas. This is how it was before LOD, you couldn't leech from higher levels so pretty much no one did rushing.

We still want to have level requirements for high level quests so that you can't just rush someone to hell and make some quests for him for great rewards.

Yes, I remember what you're referring to. I played classic as an amazon, and I remember feeling very satisfied when I traded for my first decent dual leech rune bow. There was certainly something to be said for the uniqueness of rare items.

I agree that the introduction of unique items to LoD was problematic, however I think that there is a compromise. Basically there needs to be more randomness to unique mods on items, and more class/build specific mods. Additionally, as unique items have been repeatedly buffed, rare items can hardly even compare anymore, EVEN if they happen to get the absolute best possible mods.

So, yeah... I see your point. Hopefully there's a bit of a compromise for D3.

I agree with you. Rare totally unique items should be the most powerful items in the game if you happen to find one with perfect stats. And you'd never get the perfect one hehe, or if you would it would be so valuable you could trade the one item for a full gear of the second best. So it's an endless hunt for the one item, one stats.

This gives the game some longevity

My fear is blizzard will introduce WOW set system to diablo and EVERONE will be using the same yber best endgame set. Everyone have the same stats, everyone will look the same, futuristic space aliens with lightsabres. Even the first barb set they showed had the massive shoulderpads... it will just get worse from there i'm sure.

There shouldn't be best item, ever.

I like this idea on one condition: They have a way to purchase or a quest to make it so that the very best rares can be made to look unique (though maybe because of the visual effects that weapon bonuses have on a weapon in d3 this won't be an issue).

The only problem with WoW quests is the quests themselves: "Collect 50 hides off this mob that doesn't even drop them every time you kill 1"

As long as there aren't quests like this and quests that are more like the quests that are in D2 (rescue some character trapped in a cave, kill some guy in a cave, cleanse the den of evil, etc) there's nothing wrong with it, and personally i prefer it, by a good margin. Having something fun to do while getting experience is great. Quests like "Find my valuable tool that these trolls have taken and put with the rest of their loot" where you can get the quest done, get exp, and get nice items are good as well.
