Cute, Cuddly and Horribly Wrong!

I know some of you know them already, but for those that don't let me just introduce you to the warped antics of the Happy Tree Friends!

These deliciously sick and twisted cartoons will either have you wetting yourself in laughter or throwing up on your monitor. Unlike Itchy and Scratchy these guys are part of a real weekly TV show called Happy Tree Friends and Friends which is a bunch of animated and CG shorts including Birdman: Attorney at Law that has all the Hanna-Barbera characters.

Anyway, have a look at them (but don't drink coffee while watching unless you have a spare keyboard) and if you know them already this is a good opportunity to watch more.

I have yet to see any but hearing my brother describe them makes me want to. He said it's sort of like "Itchy and Scratchy" on crack.

I could never watch that show (it's a show on TV here). I just don't see the humour in a baby squirrel getting shredded by a lawnmower. Sure, it's ridiculous, but where's the... funny?

It's not just that a baby squirrel is getting shredded by a lawnmower, it's a CUTE baby squirrel, with cute baby squirrel expressions, cute baby squirrel sound effects and cute baby squirrel screams.

And Itchy and Scratchy on crack is a good description. Itchy & Scratchy waste too much time setting things up and planning their capers while HTF just get straight to the accidental dismemberment and/or disembowelment.

It's great how they end with the message of the week to the "kids".

EDIT: What makes it funny? I think it is the very childlike atmosphere - music, sound effects, characterization - juxtaposed by the strong adult content.
