cubing question

    cubing question

    how many gems on average do u need to use inorder to get a skiller?
    i used 118 gems today and got nth. and do u ahve to use a high lvl char to cube? lvl1 wont do the work will they?

    1. Character level does not affect cubing of charms, lvl 1 mules would work, assuming they have horadric cube.
    2. Ilvl of the charm affects its possible mods. This means that you have to use a grand charm dropped further than nightmare act 3 to be able to get a skill mod on it.

    acording to this site http://www.diabloii.nu/affixcalc/ each of the +skill prefixes has a chance of 0.4% to appear, adding up to 8.6% on a Hell Charm or 10% on a mid nightmare Charm (not all mods possible).
    Another factor is that some Charms only get one attribute, which might be a suffix. I can't find the chance for pre/suffix right now :( Let's say the chance for prefix is 50% (just a guess), that would mean a chance of 4-5% to get a skiller. So 20 tries, or 60 gems should give you an ok chance, and not getting one after 40 tries or 120 gems means you were somewhat unlucky.
