Cross Marketing Madness - Star Wars Transformers

Okay, so we all know how huge Star Wars is and was. And we all remember how huge Transformers were back in the day and can reasonably expect them to become after the release of the movie.

But is this blasphemy worth it?

The original Star Wars toys and the original Transformers toys were all made from high quality materials that could take a beating and last for years. The new generation of both are made from cheap crap that falls apart. Is it any wonder sales for these toys have dropped, and were never as big sellers as expected? Given the opportunity I would go out right now and buy the Jetfire I had as a kid because it was made from metal and good quality plastic, the same toy now is junk. I havn't bought a single Star Wars prequel toy for this very reason.

And for collectors it must be even more of a joke with the reasoning seeming to be "In 1977 Star Wars toys became instant collectors items, so we'll make millions of them out of cheap plastic this time around!"

Does Hasbro seriously think that an unholy union of these two franchises will increase sales?

Megatron vs Darth Vader: who wins?
no versus!

but, if it be fair to judge the villain against his heroic counterpart... with optimus prime being way awesomer than anybody in star wars, I gotta give it to megatron

If you're a collector you don't even open the box anyway right? Which means it could be made out of macaroni and pipe cleaners.

Those things are just mind-numbingly terrible, I've seen them too.

I've started hunting for some mint-condition gen-1 transformers, but it's going to cost a fortune. I wish I hadn't lost my Grimlock, Starscream and Soundwave when I moved out.

that's got to be the worst thing I've seen all week. Luke Skywalker doesn't have shoulder wings! darth vader doesn't have a shield! and he isn't blue either.
I think the idea is sound, but the practice is just horrible

Two.

And in what way are transforming action figures like lego Star Wars?

two good games vs. a bunch of crappy toys, there is an obvious quality difference in this comparison

I've got Soundwave, that's it IIRC, maybe one or two constructicons, Red Alert with no arms, that sort of thing, and a Sharkticon

No way, it's totally different. When I was a kid I was always making Star Wars models out of my Lego collection, so now I can actually buy them... awesome.

Some of the Star Wars Lego models were good, some were bad. About 50/50, which is good by modern Lego standards. These transformer things are just stupid though.

I've got a Grimlock, how much are you willing to pay for it? :p
If he's mint condition I'll sell you my body for a night...
