Crescent Moon Decent Light Sorc Weapon?

Assume I can get my FCR from other sources, is this a good choice for a pure Light Sorc?
    Crescent Moon
    Shael-Um-Tir
    Axes, Swords, Polearms

10% Chance To Cast Level 17 Chain Lightning On Striking
7% Chance To Cast Level 13 Static Field On Striking
    +20% Increased Attack Speed
    +180-220% Enhanced Damage
    Ignore Target's Defense
    -35% To Enemy Lightning Resistance
    25% Chance of Open Wounds
    +9-11 Magic Absorb
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
30 Charges Level 18 Summon Spirit Wolf

Surely at a MINIMUM this improves lightning damage by 35%?
Is there any weapon apart from a 6Facated CS that improves damage output by this much for a sorc?

Will an Eschuta's (of quality worth not much more than an Um) give a better damage output?

I don't think you get that much benefit from using it, you are using up your weapon slot for the -35% light resistance alone, there's nothing else on the weapon that helps your build at all.

Infinity has -(45%-55%) LR, level 12 conviction, MF and FRW.
Eschutas has +3 skills, up to -20% LR, +energy, +40%FC.
HOTO has +3 skills, +40%FC, +15% max mana, and 30-40Res All.

I think the benefits on any of these weapons will help your build more than
    Crescent Moon.

Eschuta's has no mention of -Light Resist% anywhere. What you are thinking of is +20% Lightning damage, which is simply added directly to Lightning Mastery.

Crescent Moon is definately a nice option if you're really hurting for -light res and don't use Tal Rasha's set, Rainbow Facets or Infinity.

    Thanks,

I don't have the budget for an Infinity. My gear plan for the moment is:

    Shako
    Spirit Shield
    Skin of the Vipermagi
    Magefists
    +3 light skills ammy
natures peace + some other non +skill ring
    and planned Crescent moon.

So Eschutas just adds to light mastery? I was hoping it multiplied the end number by 20%. Bugger.

Think I'll go with the crescent then.

I use CM in SP. We're poor as well and can't find Infinity. Obviously if you have better options then go for them but if you don't; it does the job.

Infinity and griffons are awsome, but yes, very expensive. There's plenty of people using Cresent Moon for a dirt cheap option. It's not too hard to hit the 105/117 breakpoints without a weapon, but it will take some work. You do loose some +skills which kinda sux.

A good middle of the road option is Tal Set wich will get you -15% on the orb and still have room for a facet (i.e, -20%). You get some decent +skills from the set along with average MF, resists, life and mana. Not the best for pure light sorcs, but it gets the job done.

make sure you watch the breakpoints. With spirit and viper you may be over 63% FCR. I'm not sure adding 20% more from magefists will help you really. You'll get past the 78% lightning breakpoint I guess. Try it out - you may want to use chancies or frostburns instead.
