Crappy items

This is a little rant, but I'm wondering who else is sharing in my frustration.

So I'm a lvl 83 (I think) single player Necromancer (I like to be able to play offline), and I've beat Hell, done Hell cow runs, Hell boss runs, Hell pit, etc, and I still have never gotten any elite unique items or the high level runes.

My questions are:
1. How many other people experience this?
2. Has anything shifted your luck?

Patience helps. I have approximately thirty characters who have all finished hell and reached level 90 or higher. If you have one character at level 83, you probably haven't simply put in sufficient time / gained sufficient kills for the good stuff to drop. Good items don't fall every week, but over time they will come. I've found Zod, Cham, Vex, three Windforces, Shaeffer's Hammer, Stormlash, two Stones of Jordan, etc. Hang in there - they'll come. Best of luck to you!

Level 83 is too early to have done enough serious MFing to find much, like Noodle said. Keep at it!

Re: Crappy items

use the /players 8 command if you didn't know about it. It will make the game like you are playing online with 8 people and should give you better drops but the monsters will be stronger.

I'm a level 83 poison Necromancer with the full Trang-Oul's item set as well as many high level and very exclusive runewords that grant me fantastic character and party bonuses.

I think it's best to keep running. You should try the pits in act 1 since the monsters there are lvl 85 so they can drop a lot of good items. Its also a easy area to run and you will get decent experience as well.

With this latest patch I also have notice a huge decline in good items dropping like they did previously. I think blizz may have tuned the drops to items somewhat but runes are dropping like crazy ;) I just started a couple weeks ago being away last ladder season and so far I have found 1 Sur in Durance lvl2, 1 Lo and 1 Ohm in Worldstone lvl3, 1 Ohm 3 Vex in The Pits and loads of Ist runes all over the place. I also find best item drops seem to drop in full games. I have been running Baal back to back with absolutely no good drops this sesaon what so ever. All bosses are dropping total junk and I am running with just over 300mf. Oh well, atleast the runes are keeping me well geared.

Interesting that the pits is turning up good items. I'm aware of the /8 players modifier, but I have difficulty surviving > 1 in even the pits... Summon skills @ lvl 28

Actually, just retried the pits (been running at players 1 I guess too long) and was able to run at players 4. But I still only got IO as highest after about 6 runs.

In the 5 years(!) I have played I have never gotten a rune higher than Ist. Tell me about fair.

I share your pain... I seriously need more patience... Also I need to learn how to blind teleport better, everytime I hold the right mouse button my sorc goes one teleport in that direction, then one backwards, then one forward again... Dunno what's wrong.

I always had that problem until I got my new internet. It's your ping, it's slower than your cast rate. What basically happens is this:

1. You click to Tele.
2. It looks like you Tele, but on the server, you're still where you started.
3. Before the server actually acknowledges the Tele, the Tele get's re-cast.
4. Tele is cast using the mouse data as if you had never Tele'd the first time.
5. You basically cast Tele to the same (or close by) point 2 (or more!) times.
6. You keep Teleporting, repeating steps 1-5.

It's awful. It makes the game much harder and boring for people with slower internet, like me up until a couple months ago. Using a Blizz Sorc was tragically comical as well. I had to learn to lead my targets by about half a second. :(

I used to be in your same boat... never found a high rune ever, not in the off and on D2 playing experience all the way back to 1.08/1.09. About best I ever saw was a Gul rune from Hellforge drop.

But this latest ladder, under the new 1.13 rune drop rates, I've finally discovered some hope! Self found an Ohm, a Sur, and was able to cube up a Vex after some work.

Might not sound like much, but in comparison to the other yrs of playing this has been a flood of runes for me ;-)

Hmm that explains a lot... It seems like I'm missing way too much on my melee chars even wen they have 95% chance of hitting....

However I have a a 10mb conection... Surely that should've been enough? Maybe its because I'm farther away (I'm in Brazil) ?

Yeah, your speed is way more than fine (WAY more ;)), it's the distance. My problem was dial-up and 'kinda-sorta' broadband. Even now though, if I tried to connect to Europe, my old problem would probably come right back. Unfortunately, Blizzard doesn't have any D2 servers in South America, so it doesn't seem like there is much to be done about it. :( I'm not sure if they have South American servers for any other games, but I think I remember reading that they want to for future games.
