Countess questions

Hi!

I recently remade my sorc so I have a new MFing strategy. I use my blizzard sorc to clear ancient tunnels, meph and pindle, then switch to my old orb/ci sorc (she's weak) to kill the countess.

I was wondering if MF affects the runes she drops (all my mf gear is on my blizz sorc) and also if it matters if it's a quest kill or not (my blizz sorc has done the quest by not the orb/ci sorc so I get the quest drop every time.)

I have not yet found anything better than a 'sol' on hell, I know that you get crappy drops most of the time in MFing but I am worried that perhaps my current method will never yeild any good runes.

MF has no affect on rune drops (throughout the entire game).

I'd be surprised if her quest-kill drop rates are any different for runes compared to otherwise, but I could be wrong.


The one thing that could be affecting your rune-yield is the number of people in the game. In the case of the countess, more people = less runes, so running her completely solo provides your best odds. Otherwise, just stick with it... it takes hundreds of runs to accumulate several good runes from her (sometimes you can be lucky and get a good one though).

I only have one character in the game when I kill her, but perhaps the game still thinks I have 2 because of my first sorc? Not sure.

EDIT: well I just got a 'ko' from her and that's not too bad, I'll just keep at it!

I think the highest rune she's ever dropped for me is fal (but I've gotten quite a few of them). There was a countess guide by sirpoops but its not working, was interested in reading it, but alas as sirpoops pointed out its all about the # of runs. And if your patient enough upgrading those runes with the cube (that is a pain to be honest).
