is this an expansion for cs. in other words do i have to have half life and cs to play this or does it have the full version and i dont need counter strike or do i have to have cs to install cs:CZ?

From what I hear CZ isn't all that good of a game. Try out UT2004, its surprisngly good and has a style of play for everyone.

ive played cs and ive played ut2k3 and to be honest i like the slow stratedgy of cs rather then the frantic pace of ut. I'm not saying i dont like ut i love it but i'd rather have cs.

CS:CZ is basically the standard CS but with bots. It does have some single player scenarios, but Gamespot said they are quite mediocre. I bought CS:CZ just to be able to play offline with bots; I haven't even touched the scenarios.

I just got CS:CZ about a week ago. I love the game, and the reviews say the game is mediocre, but it ISN'T.

To answer your question...No, you do not need to have Counter-Strike previous installed in order to play Condition Zero. Counter-Strike never needed Half-Life to install, anyways.

Thats a flat out lie! CS wasent standalone until they started selling, IIRC, 1.5

And in 1.6, Steam came, now you just need your HL key, and Steam fixes the rest.
