Council members not moving at all

From time to time when my zeal paladin visits the council members in Travincal, down at Mephisto's place or at Baal's place, he makes some of them stand completely still. And I don't know why.

I've noticed a few things though:
*It seems that it only works on physical immune super uniques (Geleb flamefinger, Wyand Voidbringer and the likes).
*It seems vengeance makes them stand still more often than zeal does.
*It seems they stand still if I hit them in a way that they not get a chance to hit me back for a while.

What do I mean with "standing still/not moving at all" then?
Well, they are not frozen. Vengeance got cold damage in it, and I have cold damage on Raven frost and a few charms. But: After making them stand still I can wait for a minute, well even 10 minutes, and they will not do one single move. So it can not be the cold damage. And they don't stay stunned for that long, so it can't be stun either (and they have no stun graphics above their heads).
The paladin uses Heaven's light (unique mighty scepter), upgraded Skullder's ire (unique balrog skin), Dracul's grasp (unique vampirebone gloves), Stormshield (unique Monarch), Andariel's visage (unique demonhead), Verdungo's hearty cord (unique mithril coil), Mara's kaleidoscope (unique amulet), Aldurs' boots *forgot the name* (set battle boots), Raven frost (unique ring) and a rare ring with manasteal and resist. So there is no slow mod on his gear (if it's not hidden).

So, what is this that keeps happening? Some kind of bug? Anyone else experienced it?

Now that you mention it, yeah.

I don't recall specific details, but they were standing there not fighting back while I smacked em. I couldn't tell you what char I was using, nor gear at the time, but I *think* I was using my javazon....

I tend to think its melee related. I've never experienced it otherwise.

It happens to my necro all the time. It helps especially when I'm out of mana and I don't have to worry about resummoning my fire golem. I can just let him sit there and wait for my mana to regen.

What's even more odd, and maybe some of you have experienced this, but the zealots which accompany the heirophants or sexons have NEVER once in the near 4 years I have been playing this game attacked me or my minions. I only play necromancers, so I wouldn't know about other classes. But the Zealots, Zakarumites, etc, have never once attacked me. In fact, they run away from me every time I see them.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

Once you break the Compelling Orb, the Zealots and such will run away from you, as the spell that was binding them has been broken.

I've had this happening to me once in while, for short time. It was nothing but lag for me. It might be different in this case, but if you're using a mana-consuming skill, you can check whether you're lagging or not, but seeing if you mana goes down while using that skill. If it is, you're not lagging, and vise versa if it's not.

I'm sure it isn't lag for me, as I can kill the council whenever I want. Or I can be merciful and let them stand there :)

I had this exact same thing happen to my last night. I was playing in a game with a couple other people doing a travincal run, and we wiped everything out, then I realized one of the uniques was hiding in the corner inside the building. Then he just stood there as we all beat the junk out of him. Stood there and took it. Interesting to watch.

Besides most melee monsters being blind, i have seen this numerous times where items just cant see you. if you've ever played starcraft and any time that you hide your unit behind a tree or trees at a specific angle you will notice you cant see at X angle just as your opponent computer or human alike cannot see you, its probably related to the d2 version in some way even though the programmers are 90% different but hey we have pindle bots iths hex's and all these other things "low class pubies" dont know about so who really minds as long as it doesnt go to the extent these "secret" things do =p

The same thing has happened to me in SP, so I believe it is not lag-related.

So far it has only happened with melee characters and my Bone necro.

A melee character will be flailing away desperately, when all of a sudden the fight goes out of the council. If it wasn't a game, I'd swear they'd just had a stroke

with my bone necro, I'll stall them all in bone walls. After an age bone spiriting them, the walls will collapse. Yet the council members will just stand there, as if they are still imprisoned.

They also will not summon Hydras in this state.
