Convertadin!

Convertadin!

Ok I'm running out of pallies to make lol. Do you guys think that a Convertadin can be done to some efficiency in 1.10? If so what aura would augment it the most? Fanatasicm? Thorns?

Also about the prob that conversion has about you weakening a monster, then it converts, then it has low hp so dies, etc. Would it be wiser to intend to do no damage, or have no ar, so you can't harm them? Just keep swinging until they convert?

Obviously a fast attacking weapon would be best, any suggestions? I was thinking Lightsabre/Azurewrath... but it kind of depends whether we actually want to hit... perhaps an intentional non-hitting fast-atttacking primary with FoH Gear on switch? Also what type of gear should I wear? Just stuff to keep myself alive so that I can keep trying to convert?

One more thing, what do you guys think about having more than just converted mosters fight for you? I was thinking about something like Eternity for revive charges, stone armour for clay golem... any suggestions?

I don't think you should rely completely on the monsters you convert to deal your damage... you should probably intend to hit and dish out good damage, and merely use the convert as a form of crowd control...

I've never looked into this build much, but if you use FoH (unsure if this is fully viable) to back up your converted monsters, it could work. You should probably wait for more feedback...

Other than that, I'm unsure as to what the best aura would be, but to me it seems that fanat would be a great choice... it would make you swing faster, harder, and hit more. However, if you plan to take the defensive route, you could probably go with thorns, though I doubt that would be completely helpful, or even defiance for a huge boost to defense. You should probably wait for someone a little more experienced with this build to respond... even I'd be interested to hear more about this, seeing as how I never really looked into this build... or the cleric.

I don't even know if the Conversion+Thorns thing works anymore. If it does, does attacker take damage do it as well? In this case I could use Bramble armour and fanat... sick...

from what i've heard on the forums thorns isnt as good as it used to be due to monster dmg:life ratio. i dont see why the thorns thing wouldnt work though so yeh you could use bramble for thorns and then fana or conviction ontop.

the problem with thorns is that monsters have a lot of hp but only do a little bit of damage comparatively, and it gets worse as more people enter your game.

You WILL need a backup attack. you can't take converts with you to fight Duriel for example, and they are unreliable in any area of the game.

What happens with convert usually is that monsters occupy each other until convert timer wears off, then you have to convert them again. But I suppose if you wanted to be a pacifist and convert EVERYTHING except for bosses and champions, and just walk past the converts (if they can't see anything to attack they will stand there) that could be a funny build.

You could try aura stacking, that could be interesting...

The idea was to convert an army to my side (repeatedly due to the small 16sec timer ) and provide them with aura's :D. I was also thinking about having eternity on switch for revive's too. I could also use a wisp ring for a sage and perhaps Stone armour for clay golem. That would make me some type of Convertadin/Summoner Pally.

The only reason I suggested thorns is that there used to be a bug where it happened to be able to convert monsters.... I'm guessing from the replies that this doesn't work anymore? In which case I guess Fanatisicm it is.

I've never heard of that bug  so I don't know.

EDIT: about having eternity on switch--I tested this with Bloodmoon, which has Blood Golem on it--when you weapon switch, whatever you summoned disappears because you don't actually have the skill anymore..

Well there goes that idea lol. I guess the best Summadin gear would perhaps be;

Eternity
HoZ
Wisp Ring
Stone Armour

Along with Conversion+Fanat for quick attack speed. Any suggestions before I trial this build? All advice is welcome

id say use 100% open wounds/as much crushing blow as possible

malice(ith el eth)
gives 100% open wounds, and you can put it in the middle style scepter(they have 3 sockets) with some extra conversion or something...open wounds is sweet cuz itll do damage to them whilst they are converted...(and it lasts for 1/2 of the conversion)

I don't know how this would work, but try a hammerdin... using conc to increase their damage... you could slack on the synergies, or put only a few into holy shield, in order to maximize conversion. This MIGHT work.

What do people think is best;
1) A pally that attacks with Conversion and Fanatasicm, aiming to kill things. Anything that is converted before it dies is just a bonus minion for 16secs, nothing more.
2) A Cleric that uses Conversion to Convert things to it's side. If it is overrun and can't convert, then it always has Holy Bolt/FoH on backup. Still primarily a party pala. Intentionally has no AR so as not to damage what he wishes to convert.
3) A pally that uses Conversion aiming to convert things. His aura is whatever will best aid his army. By army I mean he has gear that grants him summons (eternity/stone/wisp/etc) to make him a summoner of sorts. Intenionally has no ar as to not damage the to-be-converted.

Or any better suggestions?

Just a quick question: have you tried a Ranger? I had a lot of fun with mine. I say "had" because I play HC and lost him to a Pindle run. I can't quite remember what skills I used....I'll get back to you on that, Rane-. Just a suggestion.

I think a better name might be "An Evangelist" :surprise:

Lol funny you should ask, I have made about 20+ 'Rane'gers ;). They are still by far my fav type of Pally, and when Guild Wars comes out I will finally be able to play a real Ranger :D.

So any help on the Convictadin/Evangelist/Missionary/whatever...

Nevermind, i made a mistake...

seems like a challenging build to say the least :)

i think you will need very expensive gear to make it work, though...
