Considering picking DII back up, New Char advice?

As the thread says, Im considering picking up playing Diablo II again to hold me off until DIII comes out. I havent played in several years so Im not really familiar with the new skill tweaks and such and I hoping someone around here could give me some advice on which kind of characters are good for a relative newbie?

My favorite character type in the past was a mix of summoning/corpse explosion necro, but I'm open to any and all classes that combine the best mix of leveling speed, kill power, and magic finding abilities. Thank you all who respond!

Yeah Anya gives you those starting items the first time you enter the game after several years

Everytime I get back I play the same char and that would be a fishymancer , he can go anywhere in the game and kill anything basically untwinked , it gets me started on kitting out other chars .

People will say use a sorc or some sort of mf char , but really , if you think about it you wont have any mf gear for your mf char
