    Computer Broke! Noooooo!

I was listening to a "Inevitable" by shakira on the Internet and all of a sudden it froze.

I rebooted the computer and it says invalid system disk, replace and press any key. I've tried restarting it 30 times, I've tried safe mode but it won't even get to the screen.

I don't know what to do! I tried the system disk! This is ME by the way... all my data was on the computer tooooo noooooooo!

maybe because you were listening to shakira and its saving your life by not letting you listen to it again.

Sounds like your hard drive crashed and burned.

I think Freet nailed it, but try one more thing: If you can get to a prompt via your system disk (ya know, the A:\> dealie), try entering in:

    fdisk /mbr

which will rebuild the hard drive's boot sector, assuming that's the extent of the problem. I think your drive's a goner too, but it's worth a try.

My experience with the invalid system disk thing has always been that I was an idiot and forgot to take a diskette out of the A drive before rebooting... Sit there and cuss the computer out to find out that there's a diskette sitting there that my computer is trying to run off of... Duh, there's only schoolwork on that thing. Not like schoolwork ever did anything useful... Pffffffffft.

Yes, the diskette thing is common. But in this case...maybe his HD died.
