    Cold sorc merc armor dillemma

So I found a 13 ed eth armor with 878 def that I want to turn into a fort or coh and so I have a 2 part question.

Should I socket quest it or socket cube it?
The cube should take it to 1317 defense with a 25% chance of 4 sockets right? or just 878 if I quest it but 100% chance of 4 sockets. Should I gamble and if I do will the armor be worth 4 times as much?

    COH or Fort?
Both seem like good merc armors anyone have any preferences. I'm leaning fort right now as I'm poor and it uses less high runes.

You can't cube a superior item, so you're stuck using the socket quest.

For a sorc's merc, I suggest using Fortitude.

+1 Fortitude, but wait until you get/find an ebugged armour for it.

Yeah there's absolutely no point in using eth sup armor that can get at most a 15% bonus, when you can ebug an armor to get a 50% bonus, especially when you're talking about using a Lo or a Ber in it.

Fort is usually better for a merc (big ED and CtC def bonus), unless you only use your merc for a meatshield with an aura and never need him to kill anything, in which case the res and +2 on CoH is more beneficial.
