Cold Sorc Help (Mf)

hi,

my cold mf sorc is currently lvl 25. This is the low lvl gear she is gonna use until i get higher lvl.

peasent crown helm
vipermagi armor
occy
rhyme OR lideless
x2 sojs
war travs OR water walks
mage fist gloves
eye of etlich

The high lvl gear im gonna use is

tal ammy
tal armor-ptopazed
isted ss
double isted ali baba
tal belt
war travs
x1 soj x1 P nagel
anni
7 mf scs
maybe like 2 cold gcs

and on switch cta

now i need to know where to place my skills. ive already put a point into like cold nova, blizz, glac spike, ice bolt, & ice blast. at lvl 30 i should put a point into orb right? and what about cold mastery?

also im gonna use a defiance merc with

eth doom cryptic axe (holy freeze effect)
coh
perf gaze 40/15 max

so yea any help is appreciated

this is nl softcore? B/C if this is HC, i would advise you to not use alibaba as your teleporting weapon.

yea this is non ladder west softcore

and i probably will switch out the ali baba and put it in ma inventory then when i get to boss ill just put it on. i will proably use a wiz spike to tele.

also what should i do with my stats? i have currently:

45 str
base vita
base dex
base engy

i should get max block with my isted ss right?? and dunno about str most of my gear will give me enough since tals has -reqs. and ill put the rest in vita and with bo i should have a decent ammount. thnx

• Shoud i get max block with my storm shield
• What should my final stat points be (such as wut vita)
• What should my final skill points be

and also i decided to use an isted occy instead of double isted ali baba cuz it seemed better. k thnx

I recently (today) discovered that block sorcies do wonders. However, if you are planning to kill only meph or maybe andy as well, maxing block isn't a necessity. Whatever suits you.

For a cold mf sorc, I'd make a blizz build, so do not max orb as it is a slower boss killer.

Other than that.. 300-400 mf is good enough, you don't have to go beyond that teleing with alibaba or switching it for the boss kill from your inventory (will be annoying I can tell you, after the tenth time that is). I like one statement which sounds something like that: 'going from 300 to 400 in mf is like going from 400 to 1200 in terms of raising your chances. its all about luck anyway'

For a pure cold sorc I would recommend maxing Bliz, CM, Glacial Spike, Ice Blast, Ice Bolt in that order. Also spend the points for 1 in Warmth, Teleport, Static Field, and Shiver Armour as they all have their uses even with only 1 point spent.

Orb doesn't synergize as fully as Bliz does, so it doesn't kill nearly as fast as a fully synergized blizzard.

For stats, the guideance is the same as almost every other build out there:
Str - enough for gear
Dex - enough for max block (or nothing if full Vit)
Vit - everything else
Energy - As little as you can get away with

Personally I recommend getting max block, but I'm not all that keen on SS. I think SS takes too much Str and isn't really a superb shield. I prefer going with either upgraded Viscerataunt or upgraded Moser's. Mosers can get 2 PDiamond for +63% all res, and Visc has +1 skills, both with high block rates. And a dual-ist Moser's shield isn't too shabby for a switch shield (keeps some resists in case there's a last minute spell from the boss).

Just a comment on your merc, if you only plan to MF Meph and Andy then Defiance is a fine choice. If you plan on going anywhere with CI (Countess, Pindle, Baal, Pits, etc) then you might consider going with a Might merc. The Doom will help slow them down so your merc (and you) survive longer, but against CI you really want to be able to take them out as quickly as possible. My merc (HF with Up'ed Shaft, Kira's and Reaper's) can walk into a group of CI and stay alive but he takes a bit to kill everyone. Having Might + HF would slow everyone down and clear the group quicker. Just a thought.

Sorry, I play ladder and don't have dooms and botds around. One soj, one gul, a tal set and a few thingies, that's my wealth. Will equip a merc with stone, reapers, gaze or cannot-be-frozen helm if it will become necessary.

I chose defiance, cause my mercenary kills those oblivions in 2-3 jabs after I static them, so no need for overkill of might or even doom+might, though I must say - having holy freeze would be very helpful.

thanx for replys. and also im not going to use blizzard because ive already made sorces with it and to tell u the truth i dont like it. Orb can clear everything so i think its much better but blizzard is mainly for pvp. I know ur going to say use blizz but just not gonna happen. i will probably use as a 2nd spell while im orbing the boss and since im gonna have max block i can stay alive so i can just stand there. i think this is going to be a fine sorc so again thnx for help!

also and 1 more question when should i start putting points into dex cuz im lvl 50 and i got like 180 or more stats saved so yea..

If you're going for maxblock, then the answer is - any time. Just as long as she'll have appropriate dex when she's done.

And yeah, you were right. I would suggest blizzard strongly. But its just a matter of playstyle I guess.
