Cold Mastery

Hey folks.

I remember there being a cap on Cold Mastery in terms of usefulness, of course everyone on these boards seems to be maxing out the skill.

Is there any harm in putting more points in Cold Mastery? My Blizz Sorc maxxed synergies and Blizz at 84, with 10 points in Cold Mastery, but no points in a shield. Just wondering where to put the remainding points, I don't intend to get hit so I see no reason for Shiver Armour ;)

Thanks guys.

Re: Cold Mastery

i think you should put just one point into one of the armor.

rest you can hit up on cold mastery i guess

or if you have a hard time with cold immunes you can try putting a point into other skils

Re: Cold Mastery

If you're a meph runner, then you can go as high as level 32 Cold Mastery, untill it becomes a waste to put any more points, since Hell Meph has 75 cold resist.

Otherwise, level 17(-100 cold res) is a good mark to aim for.

Re: Cold Mastery

CM lvl32 would be maxed CM and +12 skills. So with optimal gear you can have CM a few levels lower than lvl20, when running Mephisto exclusivly.

I know some ppl have over +20 into cold mastery from items/charms etc... and 8-10 pts in it. This is seriously twinked though. Basically however you get to 32 is how high you should go. If you have some sick gear that gets you there with 10 hard points into it then so be it.

Re: Cold Mastery

I don't recommend maxed cold mastery. I do recommend getting -199% enemy cold resistace though. You'll have 3 facets. One in ormus, one in deaths fathom and one in nightwing. that gives you -15% enemy resistance already, so you only need a lvl 34 cold mastery. If you look at your +skills, you get +3 from fathom, 2 from nightwing, 3 from amulet, 2 from spirit, 1 from your SoJ, 9 from skillers, 3 from torch, and 1 from anni. if you decide to get a second SoJ instead of ravenfrost, that's another +skill. If you get arach instead of snowclash, you'll get another point in cold mastery, but I think snowclash is soo much better. With 1 SoJ and snowclash, you'll have 24 +skills. If you use dual SoJ or arach, you'll get 25 +skills. If you use dual SoJ and arachs, you'll get 26 +skills.

34-24=10
34-25=9
34-26=8

So, depending on your second ring slot and belt, you'll need 8-10 points in cold mastery.
