Classes for D3 Vampire and Yeoman
While many of you will probably disagree, I find these options very viable for character classes in Diablo III
1. The Vampire: I know many of you would like to think Vampires dont belong in Sanctuary, but they have already be referred to several times...(Vampirebone gloves... Nostertu's coil....etc) I think the Character could work VERY well in Diablo lore, and could provide a somewhat darker version of the Paladin...when I think about the skill set of this character, I think of Konami's Castlevania game "Symphony of the Night" and its protagonist, Alucard....heres a back story
While human beings are the result of Angelic and Demonic hosts, that does not mean they are the only inhabitants of Sanctuary. The Vampires of the eastern coastal swamp lands are a taboo throughout the rest of Sanctuary. The druids of Scosglen (known as Lycans to the Vampire kingdoms) are the only race that has relations to these misunderstood people. For the rest of Sanctuary, the two Vampire Kingdoms are both feared and unknown. The Vlads of the northern plains are a frienly ally of the lycans, and are known for their cunning war tactics with sword, shield, and crossbow. They have also learned the way of the lycan according to legend, with the ability to shapeshift and control powerful familiars to do their bidding. The desolate region of the eastern coast provides little sunlight, and these warriors have grown accustomed to the dark. Their somewhat demonic appearance and somewhat odd feeding behavior have isolated them from all but the bravest adventerers of Sanctuary. (obviously this could be elaborated on, just a start.
Vampires could gain passive bonuses during the night and weaknesses during the day.
Experts at sword and shield like the paladin, but also capable of range variance with the crossbow.
Skill trees.
Darkness (Auras)
(similar to Paladin auras, these will enhance the vampires defensive and offensive capability of the Vampire.) for instance one could be ecclipse, that always grants the Vampire his nighttime powers (whatever they may be.)
Slayer (Combat skills)
these work as the combat skills that the vampire will use to kill his enemies...2/3rds of them will be oriented towards 1h weapons and shields, while the other 3rd will be focuses on the crossbow (possibly throwing knives?)
Familiar (shapeshifting/summon)
different from the druid, vampires will use their shapeshifting abilities for strategic advantage...such as turning into a bat that is undectable by most enemies (to get from one place to another, similar to teleport). Furthermore, it could have additional add on skills (for the bat say, an attacking ability or Sonar, which would reveal some of the map.) Summoning would consist of singular, powerful allies that are unique. (Ghost, Demon, sprite for example)
2. the Yeoman
The Yeoman fits the primary archetype of range character in my own opinion. The Yeoman will have a classic skill tree for the bow, but will also utilize unique playing schemes with different close range and passive abilities.
The Kingdom of Duncraig has always been under constant threat of invasion. It rests between the Khanduras and Westmarch, making its borders a constant theme of dispute and war. Futhermore, its sea ports are trading hub of the western kingdoms, making them enticing targets for the east as well. Fortunately for Duncraig, the king is always in command of a formidable, elite, fighting force. The Yeoman of Duncraig are some of the most unique warriors of Sanctuary. while their prowess with the bow is on par with any kingdom, their hand to hand combat skills make them an even more dangerous enemy. Using lances and knives, Yeoman have been known to send even the strongest warriors retreating in fear, only to be mowed down by a merciless voley of arrows. For centuries, the Yeoman was a right of passage for males, but after the severe Western War, women are now accepted to fill the ranks of their male counterparts.
