Classes for D3 Vampire and Yeoman

Classes for D3 Vampire and Yeoman

While many of you will probably disagree, I find these options very viable for character classes in Diablo III

1. The Vampire: I know many of you would like to think Vampires dont belong in Sanctuary, but they have already be referred to several times...(Vampirebone gloves... Nostertu's coil....etc) I think the Character could work VERY well in Diablo lore, and could provide a somewhat darker version of the Paladin...when I think about the skill set of this character, I think of Konami's Castlevania game "Symphony of the Night" and its protagonist, Alucard....heres a back story

While human beings are the result of Angelic and Demonic hosts, that does not mean they are the only inhabitants of Sanctuary. The Vampires of the eastern coastal swamp lands are a taboo throughout the rest of Sanctuary. The druids of Scosglen (known as Lycans to the Vampire kingdoms) are the only race that has relations to these misunderstood people. For the rest of Sanctuary, the two Vampire Kingdoms are both feared and unknown. The Vlads of the northern plains are a frienly ally of the lycans, and are known for their cunning war tactics with sword, shield, and crossbow. They have also learned the way of the lycan according to legend, with the ability to shapeshift and control powerful familiars to do their bidding. The desolate region of the eastern coast provides little sunlight, and these warriors have grown accustomed to the dark. Their somewhat demonic appearance and somewhat odd feeding behavior have isolated them from all but the bravest adventerers of Sanctuary. (obviously this could be elaborated on, just a start.

Vampires could gain passive bonuses during the night and weaknesses during the day.

Experts at sword and shield like the paladin, but also capable of range variance with the crossbow.

Skill trees.
Darkness (Auras)
(similar to Paladin auras, these will enhance the vampires defensive and offensive capability of the Vampire.) for instance one could be ecclipse, that always grants the Vampire his nighttime powers (whatever they may be.)

Slayer (Combat skills)
these work as the combat skills that the vampire will use to kill his enemies...2/3rds of them will be oriented towards 1h weapons and shields, while the other 3rd will be focuses on the crossbow (possibly throwing knives?)

Familiar (shapeshifting/summon)
different from the druid, vampires will use their shapeshifting abilities for strategic advantage...such as turning into a bat that is undectable by most enemies (to get from one place to another, similar to teleport). Furthermore, it could have additional add on skills (for the bat say, an attacking ability or Sonar, which would reveal some of the map.) Summoning would consist of singular, powerful allies that are unique. (Ghost, Demon, sprite for example)

2. the Yeoman

The Yeoman fits the primary archetype of range character in my own opinion. The Yeoman will have a classic skill tree for the bow, but will also utilize unique playing schemes with different close range and passive abilities.

The Kingdom of Duncraig has always been under constant threat of invasion. It rests between the Khanduras and Westmarch, making its borders a constant theme of dispute and war. Futhermore, its sea ports are trading hub of the western kingdoms, making them enticing targets for the east as well. Fortunately for Duncraig, the king is always in command of a formidable, elite, fighting force. The Yeoman of Duncraig are some of the most unique warriors of Sanctuary. while their prowess with the bow is on par with any kingdom, their hand to hand combat skills make them an even more dangerous enemy. Using lances and knives, Yeoman have been known to send even the strongest warriors retreating in fear, only to be mowed down by a merciless voley of arrows. For centuries, the Yeoman was a right of passage for males, but after the severe Western War, women are now accepted to fill the ranks of their male counterparts.

Continued:

due to years of training with the bow, the Yeoman's daytime eyesight is superb. Combined with their indoctrination in Duncraig's religion, these warriors gain holy benefits during the day.

As stated earlier, the Yeoman is an expert with the bow. However, their prowess with duel wield daggers (a chance to revive the worthless weapon class of D2) and spear make them dangerous (unique) at closs range as well.

skill trees:
The skewer (Bow skills)
These skills will focus on the bow (particularly accuracy and power) while spamming (multi-shot guided arrow) and speed (strafe) skills should be incorporated, they should be balanced by power and accuracy skills as well ( I would like to think of the Yeoman as the Sniper of Sanctuary)

Slasher (Dagger and Lance)
this tree will focus on the defensive capabilities of the Yeoman. He will be able to infuse magical/elemental damage to his dual wield daggers, along with blazing speed as well. the other half of the tree will focus on the spear, which would be similar to the amazon's abilities (charged strike, jab, fend, etc)

Awareness(passive)
The Yeoman will have a powerful passive tree similar to the Amazon. A player will have to invest in this tree regardless of what type of damage the wish to specify in...I havent given the exact skills much thought, but i imagine them being similar to the Amazon.

please feel free to add some thoughts, and sorry for the typos (my first post : ) )

I do like the name Yoeman a lot. The british players however may find it too familiar and shun at the idea.

Unfortunately, I'm a part of those who do not think a Vampire is a necessary addiction to the game and a class deserving of hero status.

I think that the vampire will have a somewhat unfair advantage over the yeoman because most people play in the evening, and work/go to school in the morning.

Also, what timezone would these be based on?

I was referring to the concept presented in DIII that there would fluctuations between night and day... I just figured it would be interesting to adjust character traits and attributes based on these subtle changes

"Sacred" had a Vampire class - it was very fun to play, very powerful and had some nice looking set items. You played a knight at day, but via a skill, could change into a vampire at any time (you took damage during the day, but it was negligible). You had some powerful claw attacks and could summon bats and other cliches.

I think Blizzard should add some kind of melee class which relies on agility and speed, without weapons. I do not think a vampire fits into the Diablo setting, but something similar and meaningful would be nice.

No, it is!

First: It's an add for the pool of ideas for a (?the?) possible add-on(?s?).
Second: Even other developers may find the one or other thing to enhance the quality of their 'soon to be'-products.

And, the most important Third:

It is never bad to train one his imagination. Along with the ability to bring one's ideas/visions/whatever into the words others can easily understand.

Vampire class FTW.

It would be a fresh perspective to play from. Dont really care if theyre melee, caster or hybrid.

Well that's kind of a dick thing to say. Blizzard always continually changes their games, sometimes significantly, even later in the development process. And besides, there's no harm in sharing ideas! I think a vampire-like idea would be nifty, but not necessarily a traditional vampire per se. I just cant wait to see what the other 2 classes are :p

I'm not a big fan of the Vampire, but not for any particular lore reason. I just have never been interested in being one. Now hunting one... like a Witcher type character, or a Belmont type as a Pally replacement, that's an intriguing idea.

No changes based on night or day please, that's just a bad idea.
