Class popularity across realms

Taken from this thread in the b.net forums: http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=d2-general&t=1261624&p=1&#post1261624

These figures are based on the exp required to rank on each class ladder.
Code:
Europe UsEast UsWest Asia Asia2 Asia3

1st Pal Pal Pal Sor Sor Sor

2nd Sor Sor Sor Pal Pal Pal

3rd Ama Ama Ama Nec Ama Bar

4th Nec Bar Nec Bar Bar Nec

5th Asn Nec Asn Ama Nec Ama

6th Bar Asn Bar Asn Asn Asn

7th Dru Dru Dru Dru Dru Dru

I find this very interesting. West and Europe are the same, but East is the odd man out? Wazupwidat? I wonder why there's such a difference in play style between West and East. Are there a lot of Asian players on West? If so, why is Europe just like West? What does this say about the differences of culture between West North America and East North America? I also find it funny that Asia loves sorcs so much compared to the rest of the world. Poor druid is last everywhere, ouch. The assassin doesn't fare much better. Why is it so hard to make new character classes that don't (comparatively) stink/offer something new? Barbs have the largest difference in popularity across realms, 6th in West/Europe, and 3rd in Asia3.

The figures are misleading. What those actually show are the relative popularity of classes that are REALLY HIGH LEVELS. There might be 800k level 90 Druids, and EVERYONE loves them, but that little sheet would not show it. Just wanted to pitch in....

USEast is not really the odd man out. Your table only shows that there are more high level barbs on East than on EU/West. I guess USEast players like playing barbs a little more.

To find cultural differences between players of the realms I would choose another way of finding out.

Personally my list would be:

Sorc / Assassin / Druid / Paladin / Barbarian / Necromancer / Amazon

I've never actually made a char of the last three, simply because the skills and items required don't appeal to me at all.

I've also never build a Trapsin and don't like to use the skills Blizzard and Blessed Hammer (tried both skills once, but got so disgusted with them I deleted the chars once they reached lvl80)

When you're dealing with thousands of test subjects who don't that they are being tested it all sorts out in the end. There are going to be a proportional amount of characters brought to high levels as there numbers of that class created.
Torch values and joining any game on b.net also closely correlates with this data.

Barbarian more popular then assassin on USWEST?

I'd have to disagree seems like there are no barbs anymore.
Um, on West, Assassins are 5th most popular, while barbs are 6th most popular. As in, Assassins are more popular than Barbs on West.
