    city building games

i was wondering if any of you play city building games, i seem to be stuck on sierra right now, i love pharaoh and emperor: rise of the middle kingdom

so i was wondering.. do any of you play caesar III by sierra? if so, is it anything like pharaoh or emperor (assuming you've played either of those as well)

i can't decide whether i want it or not, i know i wanna get the pharaoh expansion, cleopatra, but i can't decide on caesar

I played Ceaser III for a long time and loved that game. It's not even that expensive so just buy it and try it out. ^^

I love buildy games too :). We call them GodSims . I never tried Cleopatra, but all the Ceaser ones, Pharoah, etc, are faboo. I think Age of Mythology was the name of the last one I was into big time. But Hubby uninstalled it by accident. So after I kicked him I couldn't be bothered to reinstall.

Saying that, I wasn't too into the SimCity ones, I guess I need a bit of style to my building ;)

Oh, but Roller Coaster Tycoon is a must have Buildy. My lord I spent thousands of hours building parks, puktastic and otherwise

Caesar III is one of those "on again off again" games for me. I do like it a lot, but those types of games can't hold my interest for more than a week at a time.

I always loved railroad tycoon. But I guess I'm just a minimalist at heart.

My friend in Japan swears by ??????? (sim convenient store). But then again she's a freak, and I doubt it's out in the US.

Wow. That sounds incredibly boring. I like Roller Coaster Tycoon because you can build a ride, let people start riding it, then delete portions of the track and watch the car go flying.

I've had about the same experiences with all godly games like that. I can only play so long with games like the simcities, Caesar III, etc. before I start destroying things out of sheer maliciousness. :D Mass destruction is just so much more entertaining.

Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper II are the only sim-like games to ever hold my interest for more than a week.

Of course, if Sim City had a torture chamber and leather-clad dominatrixes, it probably would have helped somewhat.

I remember playing Caesar III a lot in 1999, although that was probably more a lot over a short period of time. Pharoah is way too similar to be worth buying both imo. Fun games, but they don't last long.

Yeah I have Roller Coaster Tycoon. I haven't played it in awhile though. Currently the game GunBound takes up all of my time that isn't spent here.

Zep, the Caesar series are pretty unique in my opinion. If you've played caesar II, you'll like the third one.

You basically build you town, get resources, build walls and then defend your city and stuffs.

Surpringingly my favourite part of Caesar III was building up my trade empire. military action in that game was weak, but I loved balancing out my import, export and productions when I usually find that kind of stuff in most games more boring than paste.
