Circuit City going under is a good thing

Circuit City going under is a good thing

Good riddance for a lousy store that can't even stay competitive when their main rival, Goodguys, folded over a year ago.

I don't get how companies like CompUSA and Circuit City that have a solid nitch in the market can't stay competitive. Not eveyone is going online to buy ginourmous 52" plasma tvs or DVD players. In my area, I am basically left with Best Buys.

I checked out Circuit City's liquidation sale and even with their maximum 30% off camera lens, they're still pricier than what I can get elsewhere.

So basically when they were in business, they were selling over priced items and they make you deal with their sale associate that pressure you to buy an extended warranty.

That about sums it up.

Same here. "Our TVs are 30% off, which now makes them only twice what you paid for yours!"

They can't even go bankrupt properly. What a terrible company.

sounds like everybody
No-- not like everybody. Everyone else would price their items competitively so when you go from one store to another, things become a blur.

I checked out one of their 30% off items which is tagged $169. F.Y.E has it for $149. So basically their original price is $240.

There's still a ton of competition in consumer electronics. Best Buy, h. h. greg, Radio Shack, Fry's, and even Wal-Mart and Costco are getting in the game.

I went in Circuit City probably twice. I wasn't impressed with the prices. I also wasn't impressed by getting gang-raped by associates every time I glanced at something worth more than $20. The lightning gave me headaches, too. So... frig 'em.
When Best Buy first started in my area, I loved them. They had just about any movie or game you could think of. They had friendly but not pushy associates and the like. Now they seem to be more about TV's and digital camera's than anything else and I can't stand in one spot for more than a minute without the sales associate rush. Lame.
They came and conquered Circuit City, and now they've pretty much become Circuit City. I just don't get the 'business mind'.

Agreed. Overpriced and a pain in the ***. I don't know if anyone here has heard of B&H photo/video in NYC but they are one of the best places to go for electronics (they specialize in camera/video but they have everything). Now I just hope something good buys the CC buildings.

I like Fry's Electronics better than CC or BB
