checkin

Havn't seen anything on this around lately so I figured I would check up on it. Does anyone know anything of resistance in D3?

1. Will it be in?
2. Whats different?
3. Immunes staying or changing?
4. Any news on sorb?
5. Whats up with resist and sorb as item modifiers?

Also since we know nothing of PVP these apply only to PVM situations.

1. Will it be in?
Yes

2. Whats different?
Safe for some different numbers (i.e. penalties and caps that may or may not apply), they have given us no reason to assume things would be any different.

3. Immunes staying or changing?
They said immunities won't be handled like in hell now. They think they can find much better ways to make things interesting.
I however assume it's won't be out of the game, just limited to a couple of monsters that really benefit from it.

4. Any news on sorb?
Don't think so, safe for the 'were looking into it'.

5. Whats up with resist and sorb as item modifiers?
What could be up?
I don't get the question

P.S. Have you checked the wikipage? It should be all there.

Re: checkin

Hmm well as for the modifiers are they percentage based or a just a flat rate increase? are items like Infinity making a return? are there any new modifiers they have unveiled?

Sucks that it seems everyone is so ill informed on this area. (assuming this by lack of replies) I wish Blizz wasn't so hesitant on subjects as these.

They could tell you everything exactly as it was now, and it wouldn't be a great deal more informative than saying nothing, since it would all probably change before release. Plus it wouldn't be useful since we don't know how all the other features of the game interact.

Designers want the freedom to experiment widely during development, and giving the fans too much information interferes with that. We complain about features that are hardly explained, we ask for changes that aren't necessary or wise, we protest when something that wasn't working is removed, etc. And almost all of that is due to our having only partial knowledge of the features and how they work with the rest of the game. And no, the solution isn't for the design team to spend half their time revealing and explaining features. Not if we want the game in our lifetimes.

Re: checkin

The game is on alpha stage. What do you expect?
A little statement maybe saying oh we arn't going to screw you with sorb and we recognize the problem. Maybe something saying we have a general idea of what we didn't like about this and this in D2 or maybe they said we felt these items were not quite fitting due to some of there modifiers. Theres a hell of a lot of small re-assuring information they could give us with out actually telling us anything important. Have you not read at how perfectly Bashiok does just that? Its almost an art how well he accomplishes it.

Re: checkin

There's possible thousands of little issues to cope with in a game. Every one of them important to someone and meaningless to someone else. They can't just handle it all when it comes to explain how it will work. Often in this stage of the game development they don't even have an answer yet.

If you want answers to something, before you complain you aren't getting any, you go to the official forums and ask. Have you done that? Because otherwise it makes no sense to complain. They aren't mind readers.
