Cheapest solo hell build possible.

Hello everyone, I recently decided to maybe try playing some diablo ii again after a long break. I basically want to play a (Hardcore preferably) paladin, but i do not know which build is the best. Considering i have absolutely NOTHING (hell, the char isnt even made yet, so i dont even have my short sword.). I was thinking maybe an avenger?

As much as I hate to tell people to go make hammerdins - the answer to your question is a hammerdin... they are really freaking easy to go through PvM. But BORRING. so you chose

You can solo hell with mediocre damage and no FCR.

I can solo hell baal easily with some good gear, but I have 0 FCR, 0 FHR, and only 40-50 resists on switch (with my dual ist alibaba and rhyme for MFing.)

Good gear makes it easier, but reaching the whole 11-12k damage is kind of just overkill... 6-7k will be enough to get you through hell with 100% ease (aside from the wailing beast guys in act 3, which no one cares about.)

With a very basic setup, the hammerdin can ve very effective... I think you may enjoy it. But it is boring, because its so easy, and I always thought the idea of blessed hammers and the way they look... was ridiculous. But thats just me.

Good luck!

I think a zealot with a bow and 1 pt into vengance is the best solo untwinked char in the game.

i think you should rethink that statement and then type some more stuff

I think/hope he meant the vengance thing for using on swap with a melee weapon. Less he's one of use who hasn't yet wasted a point in vengance when building a bow character kuz "wouldn't a buriza with vengance rock?!?"

garbad meant zealot(like the guides, fanat etc) with a bow on switch and secondary attack on first switch = vengeance but i dont believe its the best untwinked, because its too hard to find a weapon that is damaging enough for zeal/vengeance to do enough damage early on...although people are often nice in free games...so it is possible...but a caster char might be better for your first char...

I agree completely, somethin that can survive endgame without good equip or that can mf easily and live is first priority. Once ya get an established char that can provide for your lil guys, you're set.

Thanks for the replies everyone. But i *Really* dont want to play a hammerdin, I had one was back in classic and i HATED him. id rather be able to just run in a room and start hacking, rather then run around like a maniac casting hammers.
You say a zealot is a good build, i was looking at it and it seems i could get higher defence, but in turn id prolly have to put more into dex to be able to hit.
I used to like the old mass damage martyr's, but id probably have to have some nice leech equipment for that.

I just want to make this char and play him from norm to hell. i dont plan on using a sorc to mf, i just want to focus on this one char.

I only play HC and can tell you that, yes you can run a hammerdin without l337 gear and do well, but in HC, without good (maxed or close to it) resistances and some amount of FHR you're going to take a beating, especially going into hell. I've lost two hammerdins this season, with what I think was the best possible gear to have on a hammerdin (wiz, hoz, upped viper etc) and still occasionaly ran into issues. All that being said Hammerdins are supremely easy. I would suggest mf'ing baal in nm forever or at least until you have all the items you need to make it through hell. Good luck.
