Chasing the Green Fairy
I want to drink Absinthe.
I am an American, so it is illegal here. I've found that I can purchase bottles over the internet (on ebay even) by buying a "collectable bottle with the original contents intact" as long as I agree to "never consume the original contents of said bottle"
sure...
Problem is, these bottles of ebay absinthe run in the upwards of 90 dollars.
Do any of our european friends know what a decent bottle of Absinthe runs for in Euros? Have any of you had any experience chasing the Green Fairy?
fyi to anyone who has no idea what I am talking about.
Absinthe is a green liquer brewed with wormwood, a mold/bacteria/fungus/herb (not exactly sure which) that occurs in nature. This causes Absinthe to go above and beyond the normal "drunk" of most liquors, and causes some mild hallucinations and altered state of mind.
Absinthe was the preferred drink of many famous artists who have used it to unlock their creative potential. no-ears-vangogh loved the stuff, as well as a number of romantic poets, and some modern day artists, Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson.
I'd like to give er the ol college try. Any thoughts or stories anyone has to share involving absinthe??
