Charm questions

Just querying charms. Once again I’ve seen something in another thread and cannot find the dang thing!

Question 1.

What ilvl is best for cubing MF SC’s? I am after 7% ones…

What is the best area to look for these?

Question 2.

Skill GC’s. What ilvl has the best chance of spawning these?

I read that Lower Kurast onwards (to where) is the best place to spawn them…

i've cubed lots of skillers. best results I've had were with charms between ilvl 50-60. perhaps 1 out of 7 or 8 attempts is a skill charm. when i try to use charms over 60, in the 70+ range, (in order to get better 2nd mods), the odds go down to 1 in 20 or 30.

Generally, any GC you find in Act 3 NM, especially the later sections, (Jurast and up) are your best bet for skillers.

As Thrugg explained about a week ago, the high ilvl you go, you don't reduce the rarity of rolling the respective mod, you just increase the number of mods that could be rolled instead of your skiller prefix. Same goes for sc's.

Thanks for all the replies.

While I know that these are random rolls, what I was hoping to achieve was to have an optimum range for them...I don't really care for additional mods atm

IIRC +skills on GC are alvl 50.

Therefore ilvl 51-~60 is your best bet at finding +skill on GC's. There is a new set of affixes in the upper 50s ilvl wise so being between those sets of affixes is your best bet. Act 3 nm is the earliest you will see ilvl 50 charms.

I don't remember the alvl of MF on SCs so i can't help you with that one.

The ~ is there for saying "in the area of 30" :)

I think it goes up to 50 or maybe it was 45 on Hell Baal / Hell Nith charms.

45 is possible I believe, but 46-50 is impossible (required alvl 110...). You need a high-level GC for 40-45 life.

For cubing skillers, best places to farm for GC's are nm act3 (flayer, great marsh, spider cavern). For 7% smfc, nm crys passage and glacial trail. GCs dropped by hell Baal can get the +life mod.

Tekka, the alvl of the 7% MF suffix on SCs is 47, but that does not mean ilvl 47.
Generally for low level items, alvl = ilvl - (qlvl/2). However, for many items that people re-roll, like jewels, GCs and rings and ammies, qlvl = 1, so alvl = ilvl.
SCs have qlvl 28 though, so alvl = ilvl - 14.
You need ilvl 61 to get 7% MF. Which, as was mentioned, is NM ice caves or higher.
