Charger PvP question

I was looking into making a charger and it seemed like it would be good for PvP. I use it occasionally on my zealer/smiter during duels against casters and the such and it seems to work great. Is there a reason that there arent more chargers in dueling? the only thing i can think of is the lack of shield (paladin's best friend) and such a devotion to str that in turn reduced your life. other than this, is there something that i am missing?

When i pvp with my zeal/smiter and use charge it seems to work pretty well, so i was wondering why not make one. when the charge hits, it has knockback just like smite. it seems to work against smiters as well. I use it frequently and have good odds against smiters.

depends on how you build your charger. an e-Death decapitator wielding fully-synergised charger is a one-hit-kill build. you connect, they die.

however, it's all or nothing. any opponent with shield block is going to piss you right off and you can just forget about ww-barbs & ww-sins right now, smiters are gonna give you a hard time. it's also a build that relies heavily on desynch to score a win.

fyi: a grief phase blade is also a pretty good charge weapon and gives you the option of smiting once you've pushed them back against a piece of scenery. you can keep the e-death decap in the stash for those times when you feel like thumping that no-block trapper with a big axe.

note: i've obviously gone with an e-death decapitator, an ebotd-thundermaul is also a good option.

two handed chargers are nice, but most die too easily.

i would suggest using a heavy damage one handed weapon of your choice and slapping on a hoz. if you want to have a little fun maybe use a pally pheonix shield, ebotdz, and fort for a 1hit kill build. maybe use a kiras to boost up your res against elemental types.

Make a libby instead. Charge/Hammer with Greif zerker.

One hit most casters without dr with charge, own meele with hammers.

Its priceless when they think you are just hammer and they try and sneak around your fields...then they get a charge to the face and die. Or a charge to get close and then hammer. Lots of people panic and dont know what you are. 11k hammers is possible

For sorcs who think they will own you b/c you are only hammer, they quickly discover that spirit shields are BAD for blocking. Bounce bounce dead. I love spirit using casters!

Stormshield using necros (and necros in general) are your worst opponent...they are tough if they are not completely stupid

Charger, Smiter, Charge/Smiter, they're all very similar.

Unless you literally go for the 2 handers.
As opposed to going for them metaphorically?

Chargers are fun. But leave it at that. They have too many problems to ever be considered a serious duelist. Go for a Charge/Smite hybrid if you are seriously interested in being able to take down people who can block.

That said, I do have a pure charger. He is fun, in a twisted way. There is something about 1-hitting people...

Non 2 handed chargers tend to rely on Smite after their initial charge fails. Pretty much a Smiter. That's what I meant.

I strongly advise using a shield. You'll hate yourself for not having any block. There's so many babas and smiters out there in pubs and they'll pick on you soon as they notice ur going two handed. I had a pretty simple set up and it was effective. Death Zerk (greif zerk stash), Kiras w/ Lo, full angelics, Nigma dusk, Dungos, HOZ w/ Lo, Bloodfists, Gores, AR/lifer gcs. I also had some fcr gear in stash and would do a tele around charge thingy for a nice change to standard charging which was pretty fun.

Amen to that. If you really want a strong dueler go this route. You can get up to 2k charge w/ pvp penalty and still have decent hammies as a back up. You bounce off a high dmg smiter and back up a couple steps and drop some hammers. You can basically do this technique and smiters will stay off you so you can keep charging them once a charge fails. Even if you go with a more charge/attack rating oriented build you'll still be able to get 4-5k hammers with mediocre gear. My libby does 14k charge and 9-10k hammers but I'm full of pcombs w/ +skills gear and 75fcr.
