Charger gear help please!

Hi, and thanks for reading my cry for help. I've recently created an ebotdTM and wanted to get the most use from it, and decided a charger would be fast, fun and deal massive damge. I've decided I'm going to focus on charge and it's synergies, so charge, might, and vigor are my skills, while my remaining skill points are undetermined as of yet, possibly going into healing options for safety.

OK, so I have 2 items I know I'll be using, and that's my Ebotd thunder maul, and an archon plate enigma for that much needed strength. I'm not super rich but I can afford most uniques, but please don't suggest highly priced items, cuz i'll never get them. I'll list some items I'm considering for my character, and I would appreciate input and ideas from all of you.. that is why I posted this after all :smug:

helm:
delirium (bone visage)--- +skills add tremendous amounts of damage for me

Giant Skull --- the defense, +strength, and sockets are great

Shako --- yet again plus skills, and +life/mana along with 10% DR

Gloves:
Frostburns --- that +mana would be great, considering charge is rather costly

crafted gloves --- strength, dex, life, and perhaps knockback would be good

Laying of Hands --- +damage to demons and fire resist... that's about it

Boots:
Silkweave's --- 30% fr/w and more mana... i need to move quickly

multi-resist rares/crafts --- I'm going to be hurting for resistances

Jewelry:
Raven Frost --- I'll wear atleast one of these, for obvious reasons

rare ring --- resistances and dex/attack rating and leach would be nice

Metal grid --- good resistances, defense, and attack rating! (no +skills)

Mara's --- skills and resists.. but i dunno if i want to pay for it

Need a torch and an anni, that'll be expensive as well :dontknow:

please if you have any suggestions I'd be very greatful. thanks

PvM? SSog has a great guide for PvM charging.

I suggest you switch weapon to a botd in a range 1 or 2 weapon (so you can still carge from a short distance), or in a war pike (so the enemy is further away from you when you charge, and for looking like a knight). Of course, you probably can't afford it, and thundermauls do good damage.

Yoou don't need knockback. Charge has auto-knockback already. I would go for a crown of ages or just a circlet if I were you.

I personally don't like maras. Seraphs hymn is great if you decide to go the salvation route. I don't know if deadly strke works with charge, but if it does, high lords wrath will be a great option

For boots, gores aren't that good this time, since you will be atacking slowly. War travellers may be good, since the added damage will be multiplied by your high ed.

You should read Ssog's guide for more info

Re: Charger gear help please!

thanks for your suggestions. I picked up a Kira's Tiara yesterday, and I'll probably socket it with a jewel with some sort of resistance/max damage combo. This will free up a slot for a non-ravenfrost ring if need be, since kira's prevents freeze too.. and I like my thunder maul, although the range isn't that great for charge, it's kind of the centerpiece of my build. If i don't like the range after extended play I might switch to a warpike.

I've found a pair of fr/w tri-res boots also, but they're pretty low defense.

I think i've read that guide already, but i'll head on over. there's one that was extremely long, and it only had suggestions for stats on gear, no specefic items really though. i'll see.

You shoudn't look fr defence on boots. That's the job for the armor. They look good though, but if I were you, I'd still probably take travs, cause I'm an offensive person :)

Kiras is a good helm wit nice mods, but it won't be end-game. Lack of +skills and sockets hurt it

Re: Charger gear help please!

I've got a pair of travs sitting around, so I'll for sure try them out, along with my rares, and see which fits best... I've never played a charger before so I'm not sure how my style will be yet, until I get my baby paladin leveled up a bit higher (level 25 currently)

I would love to get a CoA for my pally, but my Kiras will have to do until I can get more funds for that.. I'll put it on the to-do list, or gamble a sweet pally circlet.
