Any character that hasn't been played for 90 days will expire. In order to refresh that counter, simply pick up this character, et voilà :) You don't even have to enter a channel / enter a game. Just double-click on every character that's about to expire, and the expiration date will be refreshed.

Also note that the expiration timer is based on your system's clock. If the date on your computer's settings is incorrect, the timer displays an incorrect time as well.

Last time all my characters were expired, when I still played them a lot every day.

I still could "dubble-click" the character, but it kept saying "Character Expired".

Getting totally stressed, muling all my "high-value" items to m8 on bnet (Yes, there are still trustable people there ;) )

After a few hours, I noticed my computer clock was turned back to 2003 or something.

Lol, I really didn't know it worked on computer clock, but then again, almost everything works with that (Even trial programs).

So, Check your clock, it may be wrong ;')

    Cheers

My roommate was futzing with my computer, turning it off and on without shutting it down properly when I wasn't around.

When I turn it on again, I log onto my b.net account to see all my characters expired. That gave me a scare, although I did recall reading about this problem before and I checked my system clock to see it years off. Phew.

I heard you could, as long as the actual expiration wasn't too long ago. How long is too long? I'm not sure of that myself.

No, the system clock only affects the display of the expiration time. It's possible that non-expired characters show up as expired, and reverse, but that doesn't change anything about their state. The real expiration time is always accurate. So you can't resurrect an expired character merely by adjusting your system's clock - that would also be quite ridiculous. Cool, but nevertheless ridiculous. ;)

I lost couple accounts worth of mules. Funny thing is all of them I lost i was able to log in just before the timer expired on them and they don't have a count down on them now but can't log onto them. Think allot of them I logged onto them the day they expired and some said expired but let me log onto them then, but now can't.
