Yes, they rock. I particularly love the Batman and Robin one.

i saw someone drawing those first hand when I took a trip to DC back in 1997...it's amazing to watch them draw...since it looks like nothing at first because the perspective are all messed up, then when he finished, he told all the onlookers where to stand, and we were all in shock at how it looked. It was very cool.

I'd say it takes a special sort of mind to be able to maintain proper proportions on such a large scale work... Practice sure, but I could never accomplish those.

    Amazing, aye.

Well, they must have to calculate the perspective and put markers on the ground so they know where to paint, there's no way you could do that in your head.

maybe simple stuff you could...I'm seen rooms where they do the same thing on the walls. . . it's crazy.

The well and the batman one were cool... it must take a lot of chalk though, to cover the pavement / stones so thoroughly. Z'is like a buskers event, or just a hobby?

If you can draw like that, you could probably make a pretty decent living off of it. I'm sure he sells prints of his work. I'd buy one.

heh.. like, photo prints of it? It'd be kinda hard to preserve the chalk on the pavement. Unless maybe they had some weird preserving waterproof spray. Kinda like sidewalk varnish.

I think it would be funny if he got arrested for vandalism/defacing public property.

Arrested for that? I think in most of those cases it was setup beforehand? else you'd have a hard time doing that on a busy sidewalk without people walking all over it.

oH. He could set up one of those electrical dog fences before hand. Altho.. i dunno how they'd get it under the pavement. automatically shock anyone who got too close, or stepped over the boundaries.

I don't think they'd get arrested for it. But technically, they are vandalizing public property.

You'd be surprised. Get two people and a bunch of chalk, get one of those going, and people will actively avoid it simply because they don't want to ruin it or look like jerks. I saw a smaller scale one that they did recently in Toronto, outside Union Station... just this Thursday, actually. A big beer bottle... though I think that was for a promotional event.

No one cares, 'cause they just use chalk. One rain, and it washes away.

That's true. Perhaps if they were using pray paint.

There was that guy that had a chalk "spraying" (I think) contraption on his bike that eventually got fined for defacing New York... Heard of it too many times really; ultimately it was a pointless thing anyways.
