Why would anyone want to make a CL sorc?

I made a CL sorc.. yes she use Lightning on single monsters, but I figure..

If I can do 32k with Lightning..
well then 13 hits with my 12.5 k Chain Lightning looks pretty lame... till I caculate it out.

I mean 1-32k is good. (To one monster)
isn't 13 - 162.5k better? (divided out on the 13 monsters hit)

Now combine that with 120% faster cast and you're mean as hell.
Then you add faster cast and do a 1 sec test..
I'll cast 4 times.

You have a potential to do :
You will do : 4 - 128 k damage .. on those you are fortunate to hit.
while I'll do :52 - 650K damage on random targets while I am sure to hit...

Dunno about you but.. does it seem foolish to use Lightning over CL when facing a group? DUH Yes!

The point is rally to use it in the right place... VS Crowds CL wins hands down.
Vs Single monsters or bosses.. don't even bother with CL.. just use L constantly..

well this is wierd

this is one wierd tread to make good dmg with lightning you need cl and the other way and about the mana well if you have problems put some points in energy....... i dont understand you... if its about aiming i use cl when there is a crowd.. this is one wierd tread... :scratch:

Hum maybe CL is very effective... Its just that I use to use it alot but was so ineffective in all modes..maybe except in norm..

Mabye because I didn't max out CL and maxed out nova / CB / LM / lightning could b the reason.... I'll try using CL more next time.

BTW is there a special way to aim a CL so that it hits more than other places where you would hit? Or is it just all the same?

The more points you put into it the more # of hits per cast. It makes the "chain" in chain lightning longer which is what gives CL its damage and crowd control ability. Do to synergies you need to max both skills for any real damage (and LM, CB, and rest into Nova for single tree sorcs).

Both skills have their specific use, depending on the number of monsters on the screen. Bosses and left-over monsters - Lightning, Pack of (insert monster hord here) - CL.

With less than elite grear and in 8 player Hell Baal runs CL's damage drops off a bit, so that is the only time Chain Lightning < Lightning.
