Chain Lightening FCR

I am making a cL/orb sorc, and I've hit the 117 fcr break point. However, the cast rate still seems really slow especially compared to my teleport and my old 105FCR meteorb's fireball. I heard of a 4 frame penalty for CL, but I thought it only applied to if the same chain lightening were to hit a target twice. Does it have something to do with the way I'm aiming or do I need to go for 200+ FCR for CL to work?

The 4-frame "penalty" isn't really a penalty at all - Chain Lightning is simply designed to be cast slower than most other sorceress spells.

So at 105 FCR you can cast a fireball/teleport in 8 frames (0.32 seconds) ... or at 117 FCR, you'll cast CL at 12 frames (0.48 seconds). Getting to 200 FCR will lower your fireball/teleport casting time to 7-frames and CL to 11-frames.

... and that's just something you'll just have to live with - there's nothing you can do to change it.

The other thing you're thinking about is called Next-Delay, and that is a limit on how frequent certain spell-types can cause damage to the same monster. I tried to explain it (somewhat) here, but I don't think I did the best of jobs. :p
