    CE and Fire Mastery

This morning when I woke up, all of a sudden a question pops into my head:

Does CE work with Fire Mastery?
If so, and you're using it on a necro with Full Tal's, wouldn't it be a better idea to use Lower Resist instead, since you'll be doing more fire damage than physical damae?

If you were to use CE charges from items(if there are any) on a sorc with maxed Fire Mastery, could that be a possible build? You would be doing both physical, and fire damage, so the only immune to you is PI FI.

Your answers and thoughts on this build idea would be very appreciated.

The thing to remember is CE consists of 50% physical 50% fire damage.

Fire Mastery, lower resists, amp damage, etc all increase or otherwise adjust damage. fire mastery on a sorceress would increase 50% of the overall corpse explosion damage (the fire portion). a cool idea and thought maybe with a bit of work you can figure it all out. too bad there is no such thing as a CE oskill for the sorceress to use.

Bonehew on a 2h enchantress. I considered that when I played mine but rejected the idea because I wanted to use my ribcracker and kill stuff that way.

I'd imagine it's unrealistic consider how many charges you can hold, and how many a necro would usually spam. It'll probably cost more gold to use than superior runeword with tons of oskill.

Actually it's not that unrealistic. 30 charges on bonehew last quite a while if you use them right. And you can repair that thing with a rune and a chipped gem. It's certainly viable enough. I hope I don't need to make another guardian to prove it? ;)

They did some testing of this at another forum which cannot be mentioned here. Can't remember if it worked or not ... wasn't paying attention.

Regardless of whether it's 50% more damage or not, CE kicks some rear end... :) Gotta use that bonehew sometime, I don't think anybody else ever did...

Thank you for correcting me, I guess since CE is based on corpse life the damage is based on corpse life not the skill itself therefore since fire mastery boosts the skill it wouldn't boost the damage.

    Exactly.

And for ya'lls information an oskill is a +skill to any character class and a charge is limited use.

    Corpsemourn
Level 5 Corpse Explosion (40 Charges)

    Bonehew
Level 14 Corpse Explosion (30 Charges)

These charges have to be really expensive to repair. Hope you have lots of repairing runes. :)

To repair 24 charges on my Merc's Bonehew the cost is under $60k, so ~$2.5k per cast. It's not hard to find items that sell for $35k each in Hell after a few battles.

You could pop a 'Black' runeword in a mace and use that too. Charge costs are, in my opinion, a little crazy. Five charges of Cloak of Shadows on a 'Nadir' helm cost over 70k to repair as I recall.
