    CD Speed Problem

When I'm playing, the game will frequently slow down, and look choppy onscreen. Sometimes it freezes completely for a few seconds. Then I hear the CDRom speed up, and the game goes back to normal for awhile. I'm running a 24X cdr.

Is there a way to make the CD not slow down reading, avoiding the need for it to catch back up? Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what can I do. It can be really frustrating  . Thanks.

copy the mpq file from the expansion cd down to your lod folder and make sure you have the full installation that should help some.

other then that switch to d2 mode

i got exactly the same problem

the game stops for a while and then like 10-30 seconds later the cd starts spinning like crazy and then the game "catches up" (the char runs like really fast and stuff like that)

i normaly only get this in act5 were it happens alot

lately i haven´t had that much problems but some weeks ago it happend like once every second min or so, very anoying.

Take the LoD cd (or just play disc if you have classic), compare with the d2 folder on your harddrive, copy all the .MPQ file (except the movies.mpq, not really necessary) that is not present in d2 folder from cd to hard drive.

(from experience, most of the problem are caused by access d2music.mpq)

Not only can you copy the D2Xvideo and D2Xmusic fiiles to the LOD directory, but you can go to www.gamecopyworld.com to get a crack to play with no cd.

There should be directions there, as well, for what to do if you don't have LOD.

I always have played with no cd. Even tho my computer is top-notch (right now anyways, who knows next year) I like to protect my original cd's.
