Cast your vote now! Best minion?

Grizzly: Fully syergized, these guys are like well equiped barbs. Knockback can really give you some breathing room and they do big damage.

Clay Golem: Almost zero damage past Act I normal, but disgusting hit points and a mini-holy freeze merc.

Shadow Master: Crowd Control all over the place, they automatically blind and convert enemies. They do enough damage and have enough hitpoints to hold their own, and you can put elite items on them.

Iron Golem: Diablo giving you trouble? Make a FI/LI tank! Also, Aura-golems!

Valkyrie: Big hit points, enough damage to kill nearly anything in the game and an insane healing rate!

3 Dire Wolves: Not as tough as the others, but can cover more ground as well as dispose of corpses.

Decoy: Valk style protection while you avoid DAE.

    Oak Sage: A floating BO.

A resurrected gloam is always amusing.

12 resurrected gloams are even more amusing.

Particularly if you sneak up on your MP party without telling them that the group of might enchanted gloams are with you.

    @Thyiad, thou art eeeevil

I voted for the dire wolves. My first character in Lod was a pure summoner druid that I had planned for about a year waiting for it to come out. So I gotta give my poochies some kudos. They tear things up en mass.

    I voted for Decoy.

Simply because she doesn't have any AI which means I have full control over her and I don't have to curse her for doing the wrong thing 50% of the time.

In addition to Thyiad's post, I'm a big fan of Resurrected Spear Cats. A bunch of them with might = hurty.

I gotta go with Death Sentry - lightning damage, fire damage, and physical damage, plus it doesn't go wandering off to stare intently at a a bit of architecture while I'm getting pounded. And it's always fun to use your enemies corpses against them, particularly when you splatter them around the landscape a bit. Just ask Henry VI, who stuck Richard of York head on the Micklebar Gate at York in the 15th century. man was crazy as a loon, but could stick a head on a pike like no other.

Level 20 OS gives you and your party another 125% life! That's not useless, especially in HC. Two "secret" bonii to OSs are they drastically increase merc and bear healing rates, and that they are awesome tanks. For example read about how my OS tanked Lister's pack in the Jekyll and Hyde tourney (well you don't have to... the OS tanked Lister's entire pack while me and the rogue beat on Lister.)

i don't think death sentry and decoy should count as minions, decoy isn't a minion because it has no AI - its just a illusion, if decoy is, then so is grim ward, or bone wall/prision. To be a minion you have to wander off and look at shiny things at the wrong times!
Death sentry is just a trap

Iron Golem wins with the style. I thought that was the neatest thing when playing necros...using all those stashed junk uniques/sets (Sureshrill Frost, Bloodtree Stump, IK Mauls) to transmute into a wicked sweet lookin' golem.

As for my playstyle, I'd say Oak Sage. I play druids more than any other class and it's a main staple of most of them. More life = pwn.

As far as the debate between Valk, Bear, and Shadow Master...I think Shadow Master packs the most punch.

True, but they still make decent tanks in hell, while provided a lot of support to you and your party. They take a couple hits, run off and take the enemies with them. Then you resummon it somewhere else or just let it float around and do it's thing. It can be argued it's not the best minion, but it's certainly useful.

Valkyrie, hands down. She can tank anything in the game at a high level, almost never requires recasting and once she is near enough to an enemy will attack constantly (without wandering away halfway through a fight)

Oak sage can't help you tank.
    Shadow Master keeps converting monsters.
Golums are nice but not on the same level as the Valkyrie

I seem to remember that lvl 50 is the cap on skills (whether you can reach that with any item combination is a different thing).

    slvl 50?

+3 combat skills/+3 WW barb helm
    2x Hoto (+6)
    Valor (+2)
    +3 combat skills ammy
    2x v1.10 beta BKWB (+4)
    Arachnid mesh (+1)
    10 combat skillers
    Battle command (+1)
    Skill shrine (+2)
    20 natural points

Slvl 56 WW, 54 without the beta BKWB's i.e. it's not really possible without those that insane helm.

Assassins can do 3 better better, because they can have 2x +3/+3 claws. And the build could even be PvP'able, assuming you're playing a trapper and the armor is enigma (otherwise, you're screwed. And really, i would like to build my dream trapper, with at least 65% FC and enigma. Granted I'd need some pretty uber claws, like +2 assy/+3 LS would be best, for points in fade/SM).
