Can't take it no more... back to melee for me.

Can't take it no more... back to melee for me.

Well, I gave him a try.

I played a Hammerdin all the way (no rushing) to Frigid Highlands in Hell, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to axe this guy.

Why? The playstyle isn't what I like. I've realized I just don't like Hammers. I got more than enough time with them to figure out the ins an outs with them (and their power is impressive), but... meh.

I want to smash things over the head with my Trusty Weapon. I want to bash them with my shield. I had the most fun with this guy while I was back in normal running around with Shadowfang or Soulflay and Charging stuff.

So, he shall be reborn... as a Fanatic Zealot, like I originally wanted to do. He's got 3 unused socket quests, so I'll have to figure out what to use them on. His imbues - I dunno. I wish I had 3 white Diadems on hand, but I don't.

His deeds shall be remembered... in Hell Chaos Sanct, he found me a Mang Song's Lesson (super rare but kinda useless), and a Wolfhowl.

His (and his glitch mule companions') NM Hellforges: Lem, Ko

His (and his glitch mule companions') Hell Hellforges: Lem, Ko :scratchchin:

At least I got those runes I blew on Wealth back - giving that to my Barb once I straighten his problems out.

My objective (so I thought) was to have a good area MF toon who could Uber, but I'd already tentatively spec'd the Barb as the area MFer (and that can go forward now) so Mr. Pally will be all about beating stuff up. I at least have a viable Hell weapon for him now (Baranar's) and he'll survive with Drac's, but I still need to source a good Ubering weapon for him... that'll come.

Live and learn, I guess. :)

If you can't get your hands on a Grief - how about trying Black in a Scourge? I haven't actually tried it with the ubers, but I imagine, it would be viable (not to mention dirt-cheap).

...and I agree with the points about the hammerdin. Though I really play my hammer alot, it's more like a tool of neccessity than actual fun. On occasion it seems so easy it feels like cheating.

Well, I socketed his circlet (a +2 pcombat, 6% dual leech, 20% FCR, [email protected] unit)... kinda curious, eh? Along with a Guillaume's face and an eth flail I found in act 5 Norm (got 4 like I anticipated).

Black... I've thought about that. I believe (though I'm not 100% sure) that if I took even a damaged Scourge that I might find, repaired it with El + Chip then gave it to Larzuk, then it would get 3.

Between my dislike of hammering, and the obvious benefits of having maxed fanat + HS, I think I'll be much better off with a melee based Smiter whatever his gear ends up being. If he's successful, along with my keyfinding/Furnace clearing support team, then he may one day have whatever he wants. :)

Yup. Repairing it sets its ilvl to 1.

^^ As long as that sets max sockets to 3, that's great and I'll keep my eyes peeled. I'm probably shooting for 100 base STR (+15 on my Dracs lets me equip Gui Helm, that takes me to 130) and that lets me equip either a Scourge or Mighty Scepter.

I'd like to keep DEX at about 100 too, allowing me 300 VIT at lvl 89.

I can always bring my Barb in on the 2nd comp to BO me - he can do that well right now, at least. :)

Yeah,I agree,it really does feel as though the game is TOO easy when playing a Hammerdin.
