Cannot start the game; anybody that can help?

Hello

I recently purchased DII, but i cannot get it to start on my PC; I`ve gotten it to Install correctly (I think), but when i try to start it I get an error message: "unhandled exception: Acess_Violation c0000005" Does anybody know what this means, and how I can correct it?

Did you check the usual things?

- does your DirectX work properly with other games?
- did you install the 1.10 patch?
- if you are using an improved starter, did you try with the original starter as well?
- did you try running it as Administrator? D2 is bugged like about 99% of the games, and I don't remember what happens if you don't set up appropiate permissions for non-Administrators (too long ago...)

Lots of people get that error occasionally. But if you keep getting it, if it won't start at all, the best thing to do is uninstall, run a defrag of your hard disk, and install again.

I had a very similar error.

I reformated my computer and then installed windows, then D2X , it worked fine then.

If you go on the net heaps and download a fair bit of X-rated content u tend to get heaps of spyware on your computer which messes with system performance and starts causing dodgy errors.

If you dont want to reformat then get Lavasofts adaware spyware removal program.

Im not saying that u visted any r-rated sites, just that even normal sites u may of gone too, or someoen that uses your comptuer went too probably has installed some rubbish on your comp thats effecting performance.
