    "CANNOT SAVE UNINSTALL FILE"...HELP!!!!

    Hello to all,

Im trying to install D2 on another comp but its giving me the "Cannot save the uninstall file, installation aborted" error. I did what blizzard told me on their support page which was to locate 3 files( DIIunin.dat, DIIunin.exe, DIIunin) in the windows directory and delete them but when i did that, the 3 files werent on the comp. What seems to be the problem here. Any help would be appreciated thnx.

    Hey,

Unfortunatly, that seems to be the only support for this error. What operating system do you have? You seem to indicate that you couldn't locate the 3 files, and I'm just trying to make sure your looking in the right place.

Well, I checked my C:\Windows directory, and I see the 3 files (DIIUnin, DIIUnin.dat, DIIUnin.exe), and none of them are hidden. It's probably a pointless question, but you do see other files there (sometimes you have to click the "show all files" or something).

Has D2 ever been installed on that comp before? Are you trying to install D2 from a CD-Rom that is shared through another computer?

Im not installing through a shared CD-ROM and D2 has been installed there before. I have found no traces of any D2 files, but have come across bnet in the registry. dont know if this has anything to do with it.

I had the exact same problem. If only i could remember what i did...
Do you already have one version installed?

edit: aah thread necromancy again.

edit: I think the solution is to restart the comp in "safe" mode or something. You had to run some file and check a box. I am teh suxXor at windows commands, but maybe someone else knows...
