Can the Merc add to +MF?

I just heard that +MF equipment on your merc goes towards
your total +MF as if you were wearing it. I didn't think +mf equipment on the merc added any bonuses at all. Sheesh. Had I known this I could easily get to +500% to MF. As it is my +MF on exp runs is 219 and only 350 on my MF runs.
    Any clarification would be appreciated.

I believe it's if your Merc has MF, and he makes the kill, then your and his MF applies. If you make the kill, then only your MF is applied.

As far as I know YOUR MF equipment, and I think GF, is added to your Merc's MF for his/her kills, not the other way around. If I'm wrong I'll be quickly corrected. :D

    edit: Typed too slow again!

just to clarify, kills made by your merc, minions, and summonables are all calculated as though you made the kill yourself. the one exception to this is that if your merc is wearing gear with MF on it, that will be incorporated into item drops from his/her kills, but not from kills your char makes. so, if you're doing much serious MFing, load your merc up! one interesting thing is that certain summonable companions - shadow warrior and valkyrie come to mind - spawn with rare armor, weapons, gloves, etc... if these spawn with MF, even though you'd have no way of knowing, would that MF be incorporated into their kills?

whomhead and most other people are right:

if merc kills, killing mf = merc mf + char mf
if you kill, killing mf = char mf

i don't think that valks and sw's can get mf cos generally only rare jewellry, boots and gloves get mf. i'm not sure exactly what gear the summons get, but if they don't get these then i don't think they can get mf. if they do get mf i'm not sure how it is applied

And, just to add to the "confusion"....would a dual-Ist'd Tulwar made into an Iron Golem be the necro pit runner's choice...*chuckles*

Only if the iron golem was powerful enough to actually kill anything himself, and what are the chances of that? (Unless the MF transferred over to anything which died from his Thorns aura--has anyone tested that?).
