Can a merc use Up'ed Hone Sundan?

Using the Upgrade Calculator, I'm seeing a Dex requirement of 163 for an upgraded Hone Sundan. Looking at DII.net, it looks like a Might merc won't get that until level 92-93 which is a little high to me.

Can I socket a -15% requirement jewel to lower the Dex requirement? I'm not sure what all the -15% req affects. If that works, I'm thinking 15req/shael/shael for my summoner merc for the 45% crushing blow. I'm also thinking about adding Guillaume's Face for 35% more CB. Since my army does the majority of the damage, the CB will help with bosses like Baal, or D-Clone if I ever find him.

Is there a better setup for a Summoner merc? Currently my merc has a clean Eth Bonehew waiting for him (2 more levels til he can wield it without wasting a socket with a -15req jewel), Up'ed Shaftstop (may be switching to Up'ed Duriel's to try it out, will make Str high enough for Bonehew) and Andy's I think.

I've also thought about Arioc's (have a +2) to get a better might aura. What do you guys think?

you could always use items that +dex on the merc, oh and HEL it, hel gives -20% req on weapons, unless u have a nice ias/-req jewel

I can't give you a recommendation since I don't have that kind of gear; my own plans are to stay with my +4 Ariocs and try to get some weapon with crushing blow (Steel Pillar or something like that) to keep in the stash for diablo clone.

So far, I've used revives for the clone... but I'm hoping I can ditch them at some point.

Since the Merc won't be attacking all that often the BotD is not as useful to you. The increased aura from the Ariocs will benefit both you and your Skellies as well as the Merc. I would go for the Ariocs.

Being ethereal makes the str/dex req -10 (if you can get an eth one), and a hel rune in one of the three sockets isn't a bad choice at all.

My merc can use my upped/eth hone shortly after he has the level req for it.

I have an Up'd Eth Hone Sundan on my level ** might merc, and I just looked to see how close the reqs were.
The Up'd Eth Hone Sundan requires 153 dex. A level ** might merc has 154 dex. If you're not level ** yet, I'll recommend using a Crown of Thieves on your merc until you are. That +25 dex on it should help your merc use that Hone Sundan at a much lower level(lvl 69 is the level req on the Up'd Hone Sundan too).
