Can this be made in a 5 socketed Crystal Sword?

I have always seen people making them in Flails. Is it possible to make in a crystal sword?

I've often wondered why anyone would choose a flail instead of CS for a CtA actually. The sword has no dexterity requirement, while the flail does. I guess it's not a big deal if you have anni/torch, but I (obviously) don't, and there are a lot of great builds with base-dex.

There are a couple reasons for the flail instead of the CS:

1) 4os Flails are easier to find than 4os CS's.
2) Not many builds use a flail as their primary weapon, but phase blades are common weapons, therefore some make it in a flail so they can be sure of which they have equipped. (especially smiters using grief/LW, don't wanna break an eth CS on accident (wait, can CS's spawn eth? Can't remember))

Not like you can make a cta in anything with 4 sockets :crazyeyes:

I always determine the base weapon for Cta by the main weapon the character uses so that I don't confuse those e.g. I use flail cta on a grief pb wielding smiter.

I guess double axe would be a compromise

The ones making them in Flails do it because:
-It gets 5sox from Larzuk
-They dont care, as long as the reqs are low enough

All hammerdins (which must be at least 50% of all chars on d2 :O), most casters.

And yes, CS's can spawn eth.

Yes, crystal blades and dimensional blades can spawn ethereal. And then you can upgrade them to phase blades where they become indestructible. So there are some possibilities there for bigger physical damage rare phase blades than the typical rare ones.
